Last night I delivered the fourth two-hour session of my university-wide module, UW0013 Essentials of Artificial Intelligence, at University College Cork. The module has had 1350 sign-ups from across all categories of students, staff, and faculty in the university. It’s a pleasure teaching this module in hybrid format every Tuesday evening. This week's session was on AI, Skills, and the Future of Work. The full curriculum for the module is as follows: - An Overview of Artificial Intelligence - Some Methods and Techniques in Artificial Intelligence - The Ethics and Regulation of Artificial Intelligence - AI, Skills, and the Future of Work - AI and Education - AI, Democracy and Media - AI for Healthcare and Medicine - AI and Sustainability - AI and Gender - Future Directions and Challenges for Artificial Intelligence Each topic is delivered using a comprehensive set of slides, a recording of the session for those who wish to catch up or watch the content again, along with a broad set of readings - seminal in the field, but also more recent highly regarded articles and books. While there are lots of linkages between the topics, each is designed to be as standalone as possible and can be delivered separately. Given the diversity of the cohort taking the module, no background is assumed, so everyone can get the most from it. Let's see how those taking the module feel about it at the end of semester! #AI #ArtificialIntelligence | UCC's School of Computer Science & Information Technology | University College Cork | John O'Halloran | Stephen Byrne | Sarah Culloty | Thia Hennessy | Dirk Pesch | Noel O'Connor | Linda O'Sullivan | Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence | Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics | ENTIRE EDIH Ireland | Wendy Hall | David Bray, PhD | James O'Sullivan | College of Science, Engineering and Food Science at UCC.
