I'm so happy that this is out in the world, and excited to see the results. One small step for transparency in reporting compute in CV, one giant leap for the field at large! Thank you Vlad for your leadership! 🦋

Excited to announce something new for CVPR 2026: the Compute Reporting Initiative. AI research has an invisible cost. We publish breakthrough results, but rarely discuss the computational resources required to achieve them. This lack of transparency makes it difficult to understand the true landscape of AI research — who can participate, what's sustainable, and where resources are concentrated. Starting with CVPR 2026, we're asking authors to report their computational usage. This data will be collected, aggregated, and made available to the research community. Why does this matter? Transparency around compute enables better decisions about research directions, resource allocation, and the societal impact of our work. It's a step toward more equitable and sustainable AI research.
