#TTPPulse: Nine European banking giants unite to create EU-regulated Stablecoin 🔸Nine leading European banks — KBC Bank & Verzekering, ING, Banca Sella, Danske Bank, DekaBank, UniCredit, SEB, CaixaBank and Raiffeisen Bank International AG, have formed a consortium to launch a MiCAR-compliant euro stablecoin. 🔸This blockchain-powered digital payment instrument will establish a trusted European payment standard within the digital ecosystem, offering near-instant, low-cost payments and settlements available 24/7. 🔸The initiative directly challenges the US-dominated stablecoin market by providing a European alternative that supports strategic payment autonomy while enabling programmable payments, improved supply chain management, and digital asset settlements. 🔸The consortium has established a new company in the Netherlands, which will seek licensing from the Dutch Central Bank as an e-money institution. Its platform enables enterprises to integrate stablecoins into their operations, from cross-border payments and treasury management to the development of new digital financial products. The investment positions BVNK as a key player in 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲-𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, and reflects Citi'𝘀 growing focus on modernising payment infrastructure through programmable money.
