🎯 ISO 14064: Your Foundation for Reliable GHG Reporting The first step toward carbon neutrality starts with accurate measurement. ISO 14064 consists of three complementary parts: 🏢 Part 1: Organization-level GHG quantification and reporting Provides principles for measuring and reporting your company's emissions and removals across all operations. 📊 Part 2: GHG project-level quantification and reporting Guides the development and reporting of specific emission reduction or removal enhancement projects. ✅ Part 3: Verification and validation Establishes requirements for independent verification to ensure credibility and accuracy of your GHG data. Together, these standards offer: - Systematic identification of emission sources - Consistent calculation methodologies - Transparent reporting framework - Reliable verification process Essential for building solid foundations in your sustainability journey. #ESG #CarbonFootprint #EnvironmentalManagement #ISO14064 #Sustainability #Sustainnova

🌍 Part 1 – Introduction & Overview GHG Protocol vs ISO 14064: Key Differences Explained (Part 1) With the global push for decarbonisation, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting has become essential for organisations to measure, report, and reduce emissions. Two leading frameworks guide this process: GHG Protocol Corporate Standard ISO 14064-1:2018 Both aim to standardise GHG accounting, but differ in focus, methodology, and verification requirements. ⚖️ Framework Overview GHG Protocol: Developed by WRI & WBCSD, provides detailed guidance for measuring and managing emissions across sectors. ISO 14064-1: Published by ISO, outlines specifications for quantifying and reporting GHG emissions and removals at the organisational level. 🔗 Key Similarities Built on principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency, and accuracy. Define Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Require clear organisational boundaries. Guide the creation of a comprehensive GHG inventory. #GHGProtocol #ISO14064 #CarbonAccounting #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #ClimateAction

There are many ISO standards that are related to GHG emissions, how should we navigate them?! Let’s start with ISO14064! ISO14064 is an internationally recognised standard that focuses on the identification of GHG emitting sources from an organization’s activities and processes. This is an important point to distinguish between ISO14064 and ISO14067 - which focuses on product-level emissions. Every activity within an organization can potentially be associated with generating GHG emission. To be able to obtain one figure of “a company’s carbon footprint”, the process is seldom straightforward. One common situation SMEs find themselves in is that they put aside time to establish a project to measure their carbon footprint. Everyone crunches their numbers and puts together the needed input to calculate their footprint then the process stops there. Next year, different people scramble together the numbers in a different way and the outcomes are not comparable to the first year. This makes it difficult for the teams to know whether what they’ve done has been effective in reducing carbon emissions, and it is not possible to present these results to external stakeholders. ISO14064 can help organizations to get onto the right foot on the get go. The standard provides guidance on: 📐Setting the scope of an organization’s carbon footprint, and areas that involve carbon emission to establish a baseline for measuring future reduction efforts. 📐Creating reduction activities and targets that can be traced back to the data sources so that internal teams can set individual objectives in achieving carbon reduction in a relatable manner. 📐Establishing internal processes to maintain the necessary data sources for a consistent measurement of carbon emissions and reporting mechanism. The objective is to accurately portray a snapshot of the organization’s progress when compared against the baseline. If you are interested in measuring, and establishing carbon emission metrics in a sustainable and comparable manner, feel free to reach out! #babayagaconsultancy #sustainabilityconsultant #bcorp #bleader #gri #esgreporting #abcesg

🌍 ISO 14064 Certification – Turning Climate Commitments Into Measurable Action With increasing global focus on climate change, organizations need credible tools to measure and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. ISO 14064 provides that framework. 🔹 ISO 14064-1 – GHG Inventories Guides organizations in quantifying and reporting GHG emissions and removals. It ensures accurate carbon footprint accounting at the organizational level. 🔹 ISO 14064-2 – GHG Projects Focuses on quantifying, monitoring, and reporting emissions reductions or removal enhancements from specific projects. This is key for carbon offset initiatives and climate-positive projects. 🔹 ISO 14064-3 – Validation & Verification Provides the framework for independent verification and validation of GHG inventories and projects, ensuring credibility and transparency for stakeholders. ✅ Why ISO 14064 Certification Matters Builds stakeholder trust with verified data Enhances ESG performance and sustainability reporting Prepares companies for Net Zero and regulatory requirements Strengthens competitiveness in global markets Adopting ISO 14064 is not just about compliance—it’s about demonstrating leadership in credible climate action. 🌱 #ISO14064 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #NetZero #CarbonFootprint #SGS #ESG #GHG #NEOM #KSA #Saudia #NCEC #RCEPCD
