The African Research Academies for Women Inc.’s Post

✨ Meet Our ARA-W Undergraduate Research Program Scholar, Shirley Sarah Dadson, a fifth-year medical student from Ghana, who is pursuing studies in medicine with a research interest in plastic and reconstructive surgery.✨ She believes women’s voices in STEM expand the boundaries of science by bringing diversity of perspective, lived experience, and imagination. She aspires to become a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, advancing access to surgery as a fundamental human right. As co-founder of the Association of Future African Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (AfroPRS), Shirley is committed to advocacy, shaping surgical policy, and creating pathways for young Africans in this specialty. Beyond her studies, she leads a community of over 3,000 readers who follow her medical stories through her newsletter, My Clinical Logbook. We are proud to spotlight Shirley as part of the ARA-W Undergraduate Research Program 2025! #ARAWScholars #WomenInSTEM #ScholarSpotlight
