📢 Product Update: YouTube Ending Support on Vizio VIA+ TVs Between Sept 15 – 30, 2025, the YouTube app will stop working on older Vizio VIA+ Smart TVs (models manufactured 2013–2017 using the Yahoo-based platform). 🔹 Why this change? These TVs can no longer meet YouTube’s latest security and technical requirements, and the Yahoo Smart TV platform itself is no longer supported. 🔹 What it means for users: After Sept 30, YouTube won’t run on these TVs’ built-in app. Solution: Use the TV as a monitor by connecting a streaming device like Roku, Fire TV Stick, Chromecast, or Apple TV via HDMI.

🎬 Streaming wars aren’t just about content anymore — they’re about experience. When a user presses play, they don’t care about your infrastructure. They care about smooth playback, crisp quality, and ads that don’t ruin the flow. Behind the scenes, though, it’s a battlefield of devices: smart TVs, set-top boxes, CTVs, mobiles, and even older models still in circulation. This is where real-time device intelligence becomes the game-changer. With DeviceAtlas, streaming platforms can: ✅ Detect and classify any device instantly (yes, even the obscure ones) ✅ Power adaptive streaming by aligning quality with real capabilities ✅ Standardize device data to feed monitoring, analytics, and monetization ✅ Reduce buffering, errors, and wasted ad impressions Because in streaming, every second counts. 👉 The real question: is your platform truly device-aware? #Streaming #OTT #CTV #AdTech #DeviceIntelligence

We have reached an agreement on TV technology and are moving forward with a streaming system that manufacturers can integrate into smart TVs, as well as make available on mobile devices and commercial computers via Scorenet. Users will be able to watch television exclusively through streaming across all supported application platforms. This system requires no additional licenses other than the Category 2 Full-Stack and Mobile App, Category 15 News Outlet, and Category 17 Entertainment Authorisations under the Monopoly of Information Market. However, we request adequate time to establish an intelligence division responsible for verifying media compliance and developing comprehensive information system screening tools, ensuring full control over the dissemination of information. It is important to note that presenting data and information to the public through mass media has historically led to severe societal consequences. For this reason, such activities remain subject to strict regulatory oversight.

VZY by Dish TV India Ltd. Here’s what I found out about VZY (launched by Dish TV India) — what it is, its features, potential advantages and things to watch out for. --- ✅ What is VZY? VZY stands for Vibe, Zone & You and is a newly introduced smart-TV brand/range by Dish TV India. The idea: integrate traditional DTH (direct-to-home live TV) + OTT streaming + smart-TV features in one device. It covers models from 32-inch (HD) up to 55-inch (4K QLED). Prices reportedly starting around ₹12,000 for the smaller models, going up to ~₹45,000 for 55″ 4K models. The first models run on Google TV/Android TV platform. Dish TV also filed a trademark for “VZY OS”, suggesting they may roll out their own OS later. --- 🧩 Key features / highlights Here are the standout features of the VZY smart TV range: Built-in DTH set-top box in select models – meaning fewer external boxes needed. OTT apps support: access to streaming platforms, apps as per a typical smart TV (Netflix, Prime Video etc). QLED display (for premium models), HDR support (Dolby Vision, HDR10), Dolby Atmos for audio in premium models. Voice-enabled remote, Chromecast, AirPlay support in some models. The “all-in-one” positioning: buy the TV + you get DTH + OTT capabilities built in, thus reducing the hassle of separate set-top box + OTT + TV. --- 🌟 Why it could be a good choice Convenience: If the integration works seamlessly, having live TV + streaming + smart features in one device is attractive. Value: For the budget end (~₹12,000) this could be one of the lower-entry smart TVs with built-in DTH. Single vendor: You deal with Dish TV for service + device, which may simplify support. Future-proofing: Dish TV is signalling push into non-DTH revenue streams and ecosystem—so post-sales support and updates may improve. --- ⚠️ Things to watch / potential drawbacks Performance & software: Since this is a new brand/range, the software experience, stability and updates are crucial. How good is the Google TV implementation, how often are updates delivered? DTH dependency: Some models include set-top box integration, some may require additional subscription or service tie-ups. Need to check exactly what you get. Competitive smart TV market: Many established brands (Samsung, LG, Sony, Xiaomi, OnePlus etc) have mature ecosystems and large app libraries. VZY will need to match that. After-sales service & availability: New product → check support network in your region (you’re in Bhubaneswar/Odisha) for parts, repairs, service centres. Price vs spec: At higher screen sizes/4K QLED, you’ll face close competition from brands specifically strong in displays—so compare specs carefully. #VZY #DishTv #VZYindia Manoj Dobhal DishTV VZY

🚀 Goodbye Apple TV+: Apple's Streaming Service Debuts a Simpler New Identity Hello LinkedIn community! 📱 In the world of technology, brand changes always make an impact. Apple has announced a redesign of its streaming service, transitioning from Apple TV+ to simply "Apple TV". This move aims to unify the identity with its television hardware and simplify the user experience, eliminating the "+" to encompass a broader ecosystem of content and entertainment. 📈 Why This Change? Apple explains that the new name reflects an evolution toward an integral platform, integrating not only original series and movies, but also purchases, rentals, and access to other services like MLS Season Pass. This aligns the brand with the Apple TV device, avoiding confusion and strengthening its position in the streaming market. 🔍 Key Launch Details: - 🎥 The service will maintain its premium catalog of original productions, like "Ted Lasso" and "Severance", but now under the unified Apple TV umbrella. - 📱 The app will update on iOS, tvOS, and other devices, with a cleaner interface and AI-powered personalized recommendations. - 🌍 Available globally, with emphasis on emerging markets to compete with Netflix and Disney+. - 💡 Technical Benefits: Improvements in integration with HomeKit and Siri, optimizing data consumption and 4K HDR quality. This rebranding is not just a cosmetic adjustment, but a technical strategy to boost user engagement through a more cohesive data architecture. What do you think of this change? Switching Wi-Fi networks more than a Netflix series binge? If only managing product features were so straightforward. This article explains how Samsung users can prevent their phones from toggling between Wi-Fi networks automatically, which can cause connectivity hiccups during calls, streaming, or downloads. Disabling the 'switch to better Wi-Fi networks' feature helps stabilize the connection, especially in cluttered network environments. For a product manager, this highlights the importance of offering user controls to improve stability and user experience while balancing automation and manual settings, especially amid increasing remote work demands. Thank you to Nancy Kariuki for this insightful take on device connectivity quirks. #Connectivity #UserExperience #MobileTech #ProductDesign First published: October 2023
