General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, highlighted AI as a core technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution with the power to reshape the global order. The Communist Party of Vietnam supports science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, including AI, as key drivers to escape the middle-income trap and achieve the country’s 2045 goal of becoming a high-income developed nation. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW emphasizes strategic technology development, especially AI, as essential for enhancing production, reforming governance, and advancing socio-economic growth.
Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized the urgent need for Vietnam to define its position in AI within a competitive global environment by building a safe, effective, and human-centric AI ecosystem. He stressed that technology is a tool, but humans remain the critical factor in its success. Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung called AI a major opportunity for Vietnam to boost productivity, economic growth, competitiveness, governance, and national defense. He advocated for a declaration of AI strategy focusing on the values of humanity, safety, autonomy, cooperation, inclusiveness, and sustainability.
Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, underscored AI’s potential to increase labor productivity tenfold and noted the need for a revolutionary mindset to seize its opportunities. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung stressed reforming the education system as the critical solution, proposing that children begin learning with and alongside AI from first grade. This approach aims to prepare future generations for unpredictable changes in the job market by overhauling teaching, learning, and assessment methods centered on AI.
Vietnam’s AI sector is projected to contribute up to $80 billion, or 12% of GDP, by 2030 if widely adopted. Currently, 75% of Vietnamese businesses use AI in sales, and many major corporations are investing heavily in AI to drive growth and enhance long-term competitiveness.
