🚌 Could public transportation be given a sixth sense? 🚎 As a finalist in this year’s Transit Tech Lab, Matawan have successfully completed a proof of concept with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PATH) on the Ridership Improvement Challenge. Our WanData platform brought together previously siloed data sources — fare collection, camera feeds, and planning & scheduling — into one centralized platform to improve efficiency and the rider experience. 🔎 By analyzing over 81 million tap-ins, we enabled real-time ridership insights, crowding estimates, and origin-destination projections. → The result: a better understanding of how demand truly matches supply, empowering PATH agents to save labour and create richer insights: • Make smarter and faster decisions thanks to a single source of truth • Leverage travel pattern insights to optimize service planning • Make real-time operational adjustments based on crowd level monitoring We are grateful to our partners at PATH and the Transit Tech Lab for driving innovation that makes mobility more efficient and sustainable. There’s a decades-long macro trend reshaping the planet: urbanization. Today, more than half the world’s population lives in cities. As urban environments grow, so does the complexity of maintaining infrastructure. Legacy monitoring methods are falling behind. They are reactive, slow, and dependent on manual inspections or citizen complaints. That’s why we’re excited to support EchoTwin AI, a company helping cities see, think, and act in real time. EchoTwin transforms municipal fleets into AI-powered mobile inspection units that continuously scan for asset health, detect safety issues, automate compliance, and contribute to a real-time digital twin of the city. EchoTwin is modernizing how cities operate and enabling them to become self-aware. We’re thrilled to be participating in their $8M seed round.

Managing a city's urban forest often feels like a reactive battle, dealing with issues only after they arise. The common goal is proactive, strategic care, but the reality for many municipal managers I speak with is being constrained by outdated data and limited resources. What if we could change that dynamic? Imagine having a living, digital replica of every tree in your city. A "digital twin" that allows you to see tree health in real-time, predict risks before they become problems, and deploy resources with incredible precision. It’s not about replacing expertise, but amplifying it. This shift from reactive to proactive management is a powerful one, and it's gaining momentum. Great to see top institutions exploring this. A project from MIT, for example, is using AI to create the first large-scale database of 3D tree models to help planners anticipate needs and build resilience. At Arboair we are developing this type of technology for commertial use at large scale to help make cities greener and safer in a much smarter way. You can read more about the MIT project here: https://lnkd.in/d8gHamKh And about what we do at Arboair here: www.arboair.com
