📚 New Publication | 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴: 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 is a powerful example of what can emerge from a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Connection workshop, bringing together research, creativity, and collaboration! Co-created by Antje Ellermann, Frederik Byrn Køhlert, Sarah Leavitt, and Mireille Paquet, this graphic anthology blends research with visual storytelling to explore displacement, identity, and belonging. It shows how art can engage readers emotionally with the complex realities of migration, beyond data or debate. Born from the Graphic Narratives of Migration workshop hosted by CMS in May 2022, the project reflects CMS’s commitment to interdisciplinary and arts-based research. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/g56jBzsu #comics #migrationstudies #artbasedresearch

Who owns our knowledge? At CRKN, we believe knowledge belongs to everyone, from the general public to the dedicated researchers. That belief is at the heart of what shaped our Canadiana platform. After seven years of stewardship, Canadiana has become one of the world’s largest repositories of freely accessible digitized Canadian historical content. Today, more than 68 million pages of Canada’s documentary heritage are openly available to all, and that number keeps growing as we continue to digitize and share more collections. Built and sustained by a national community of librarians, archivists, and technical experts, Canadiana embodies the shared library values of access, preservation, and collaboration. This public open access infrastructure exists thanks to the collective commitment of those who believe that knowledge should be free, discoverable, and for everyone. By keeping Canada’s collective memory open and accessible, Canadiana ensures that our history is not locked behind paywalls or lost to time. It remains a living public resource for research, learning, and connection. This #OpenAccessWeek, we are celebrating the power of open, community-driven infrastructure like Canadiana, supporting open scholarship, empowering researchers, and connecting Canadians to their shared heritage. 🔗 Explore Canadiana: https://www.canadiana.ca/

Must read article on experienced time pressure scale based on nine large studies; also including two #MOTUS datasets (TOR13; n=3,598 and COVIDTUS; n=405). #timeuse #iatur
🎓 New Publication Alert! 🚀 ⏰🏃💨 Modern Western societies are believed to be characterized by a chronic lack of time. Yet, paradoxically, we have never worked less and have more leisure time than ever before. The lack of time is therefore mainly a subjective experience. For almost three decades the Research Group TOR of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel has been using the eight-item "TOR Experience Time Pressure Scale" to measure this experienced time pressure. This scale is designed to capture the experiences of having too little time, of facing temporal “overload,” of dissatisfaction with available time, and of the difficulties to fulfil aspirations and needs due to temporal limitations. 💻🔍📊 This new paper evaluates the scale's usefulness by assessing its internal consistency, cross-sample reliability, measurement equivalence, and know-groups validity in nine Belgian databases from 1999 to 2021 consisting of different research populations. We recommend its use in research aimed at studying the technological progress-driven consequences of our changing societies on the organization, coordination and experience of everyday life. Building on the organization’s current Strategic Plan’s success, this new Strategic Plan takes a fresh look at the current economic climate, priorities, and opportunities for impact in Rural Oxford. This new Strategic Plan, based on research and community engagement, delivers an action-based roadmap that defines and outlines Rural Oxford EDC’s 2026-2030 strategic objectives and goals. The Strategic Plan was built on an economic and situational analysis of the area’s economy and a comprehensive public consultation process. This process merged qualitative and quantitative analyses to develop actions that are realistic and doable, supported by the community, and grounded in the realities of Rural Oxford’s economic and cultural landscape. Dr. Dania Thafer’s concept of creative insecurity captures a key Gulf dilemma: institutions are strong enough to resist change, yet still depend on it to adapt. In Saudi Arabia, where young people are eager to innovate, how this tension is managed could shape not only policies but the pace and scope of social transformation. #GulfYouth #SaudiReforms #InstitutionalChange #SocialTransformation #CreativeInsecurity
Yesterday’s seminal discussion with Dr. Dania Thafer on her 2023 book, Creative Insecurity: Institutional Inertia and Youth Potential in the GCC, was a great reminder of how institutional practices in the Gulf can both constrain and enable adaptability, even as GCC states seek to harness the youth bulge reshaping political and economic trajectories. Responding to student questions, Dr. Thafer explained that “creative insecurity”, the tension between structural rigidity and youthful innovation, defines much of the region’s governance and societal challenges, while at the same time embodying the possibility of transformative renewal. I find this framing compelling, as it offers a critical lens to interpret governing conditions through neoclassical realism, where systemic pressures are mediated by domestic structures, and through institutionalist concerns with path dependency. Thank you, Dr. Dania Thafer, for such valuable insights. I look forward to continuing this important conversation.
