#National Spotlight on Agribusiness in West Nile! We are proud to share this powerful feature by #UBC TV News, highlighting the critical work of Uganda Agribusiness Alliance (UAA) under the #PowerOfVoicesPartnerships (PVP) project. For the last five years, we've worked alongside 1,388 farmers (665 women & 723 men) in West Nile, building their capacity in horticulture production. The result? Increased yields and stronger agribusiness skills. However, as this feature makes it clear, farmers' success is bottlenecked by infrastructure. Nebbi District Agricultural Officer, Joyce Piwa states: "The road network is very poor... yet when you grow these perishable things, you are supposed to sell them out." UAA has successfully linked farmers to markets, but without good roads, post-harvest losses remain high. We echo the call from local leaders like Gilbert Onencean (Principle Assistant CAO, Nebbi District) for the government to prioritize the improvement of community feeder roads. This is essential for a sustainable agribusiness value chain. #Watch the feature to hear directly from the farmers and leaders. #Share this post to amplify their voices. 🤝 #Partner with us. How can we work together to address this critical infrastructure gap? The success of the Kisoro District Potato Growers Cooperative Union (KDPGCU) in Uganda offers a perfect blueprint for every country facing climate vulnerability. They are championing a model where resilience is structurally embedded: ✔️Local Leadership ✔️Climate-Smart Investment ✔️Direct Capital Flow This is the systems transformation we must fund. Traditional agricultural finance often fails because it assesses individual risk in a vacuum. The CRAFT project's success demonstrates that when you finance a cooperative designated as a 'business champion', you are investing in a de-risked and scaled operation. You are investing in market access, collective management, and verifiable climate action (220,000 farmers reporting greater resilience). For African banks and private equity firms, the message is quite compelling: The path to bankability for smallholder agriculture is paved by collective, climate-smart action. We need to collaborate with regional initiatives to design financial instruments that make these climate-resilient value chains the default investment choice, not the exception. https://lnkd.in/dm9ymCmu #agrifinancing #agrifinance #agriculture #climateresilience

Hi*Agriculture Remains Kenya’s Top Investment Opportunity* Agriculture continues to be Kenya’s most promising investment sector, offering unmatched resilience and scalability in the country’s evolving economy. With rising food demand, increased government support, advancing technology, and improved farmer education, agribusiness is no longer just a cultural tradition — it is a high-potential commercial venture. Opportunities abound across multiple areas including horticulture, dairy, aquaculture, and agro-processing. Experts note that investing in these fields offers not only consistent financial returns but also long-term social and economic impact. “It’s not just about profit,” says a local agribusiness consultant. “It’s about creating jobs, ensuring food security, and building a lasting legacy.” As Kenya moves toward modern, climate-resilient farming systems, the sector remains open for innovation, investment, and youth engagement. The message is clear: Kenya’s fertile soil is waiting for visionary investors. #Agromind #aiforgood # #Agritech #AgribusinessKenya #KenyaFarming #SmartInvesting

The Future of African Agribusiness and Food Security Africa holds 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land. Yet, many of our communities still rely heavily on food imports. This contradiction tells us something important: the future of Africa’s economy will be decided in its farms, gardens, and agribusiness value chains. The opportunities ahead are massive: ✅ Youth-driven innovation digital platforms and agri-tech are changing how farmers access markets. ✅ Climate-smart agriculture resilient practices will protect yields in the face of climate change. ✅ Value addition packaging, branding, and processing are where real wealth is created, not just production. ✅ Export potential , African floriculture, horticulture, and organic produce are increasingly in demand globally. But opportunities will only become reality if we: 1. Invest in infrastructure and logistics to reduce post-harvest losses (currently up to 40% in some crops). 2. Strengthen policy support and financing for smallholder farmers and agribusiness startups. 3. Encourage public-private partnerships that link traditional farming with modern innovation. The truth is simple: Africa cannot outsource its food future. Agribusiness is not just about farming—it’s about building industries, creating jobs, and ensuring food sovereignty for the next generation. My question to you: What one change do you believe would have the biggest impact on making Africa food-secure by 2050? #Agribusiness #FoodSecurity #Africa #Sustainability #FutureOfWork

🌍 In the heart of Kipipiri, Nyandarua County, where potential is vast, but infrastructure can often be limited, one young woman is transforming #agriculture. Tabitha Wanjiru, a 28-year-old visionary and proprietor of Greenish Acres Farm is shaping the future of farming in her community. As a newly recruited Farmer Service Centre (FSC) in 2024, she is dedicated to improving the productivity, income, and food security of #smallholder #farmers in Kenya. 🌟 As an aggregator, Tabitha links local farmers to markets such as Keitt, Flamingo, and EAG, ensuring they receive competitive prices for their produce. This vital role in connecting farmers to buyers provides them with consistent incomes. Tabitha negotiates bulk deals, helping smallholder farmers overcome the challenge of finding profitable markets on their own. 👩🌾 Tabitha’s story illustrates the immense potential within Kenya’s agricultural sector, especially among youth and young women. With the right support, women and young farmers can become key drivers of food security and economic growth. Partners visiting Kipipiri have an opportunity to make a real difference. By investing in capacity-building programs, improving access to finance, and supporting infrastructure development, they can amplify the impact of agripreneurs like Tabitha. 👩🌾 Supporting young women in agriculture is not only about improving their livelihoods—it's about strengthening Kenya’s food security and driving rural development. Tabitha’s journey is a powerful example of what can be achieved with vision, hard work, and the right backing.
