Last week in DC, Nicole Goldin, PhD joined global leaders at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund to explore the future of development finance. From debt and demographics to AI and middle powers, the conversations reflected both uncertainty and opportunity for sustainable, inclusive growth. She reflects how voices from the Global South and middle powers are increasingly shaping the conversation, and the need to “do development differently.”

Geopolitics has become a core business issue, with corporate affairs teams stepping into a more strategic role to help senior leaders anticipate and navigate the complexity. In a new article, “Upgrading Corporate Affairs for a New Geopolitical Era,” McKinsey & Company's Ziad Haider and Robin Nuttall explain how leading companies are rethinking their approach to geopolitics across five dimensions: 1. Rigorously assessing exposure to geopolitical trends, quantifying the value at stake, and identifying critical stakeholders. 2. Tailoring messages, leading with insights, and choosing the right tone, volume, and voices. 3. Engaging proactively with governments, regulators, and third parties before crises arise and calibrating visibility. 4. Embedding corporate affairs into business units, formalizing metrics, and coordinating across functions. 5. Augmenting geopolitics expertise and analytics, and adopting AI tools to scale insight and execution. Despite this proactive approach by top organizations, McKinsey's research, including a survey of nearly 900 executives and interviews with corporate-affairs leaders across sectors, suggests many others are still underinvesting in this critical domain. The global economy is being transformed. According to recent WEF / global reports: technology (AI, big data, IoT) is opening huge opportunities but also exposing serious risks especially for developing countries. Here’s the thing: this transformation demands more than policy alone. It requires an understanding of a broader justice system beyond the judiciary , one that positions justice as a foundational principle in how we build capacity, use technology, design systems and grow together.
In a world shaken by trade disputes, geopolitical fragmentation and the rise of AI, what’s the outlook for the global #economy? The answer is mixed, as Philipp Großkurth, Insight Lead at the World Economic Forum explains. While chief economists are somewhat downbeat about the global picture, there’s better news in some regions: 37% of those we polled expect strong or very strong growth in the Middle East and North Africa in the next year. You can find these insights and more in the World Economic Forum’s September 2025 edition of the Chief Economists' Outlook, a triannual survey of expert insights on the state of the global economy. Read the full report here: https://ow.ly/qbML50X0Ukx The global economy is undergoing a fundamental transformation, as engines of growth are being reshaped by geopolitics, technology, and the climate crisis. At the World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Impact Meetings from 22-26 September 2025, more than 1,000 leaders are gathering in New York to address the most urgent global challenges, from humanitarian crises to inclusive economic growth and climate action. Follow #SDIM25 for the latest insights.

🌐 Rethinking Governance in the Age of Complexity The 21st century is not merely another chapter in human history—it is an inflection point. For the first time, humanity faces global challenges that transcend borders, ideologies, and traditional governance models. Climate instability. Artificial intelligence. Economic polarization. Cultural fragmentation. Each crisis exposes a deeper truth: our governance systems were built for a world that no longer exists. Omniism emerges from this realization. It is not a new “-ism” to compete with others—it is a meta-framework designed to integrate what works across all systems, and evolve as humanity evolves. Rather than viewing capitalism and socialism as opposites, Omniism asks: How might we balance innovation with inclusion? Rather than choosing between democracy and technocracy, it asks: How might we design governance that is both participatory and intelligent? And rather than seeing ecology and economy in conflict, it invites us to imagine: What if our planetary systems were treated as living partners in governance? Omniism envisions governance as a living, adaptive ecosystem—guided by balance, feedback, and continual learning. It is a framework for the post-ideological era, where cooperation, not competition, defines civilization’s next leap. We stand at the threshold of System 2.0 for humanity—a chance to build structures worthy of our intelligence, compassion, and interdependence. Join the dialogue. Help shape the architecture of the future. #Omniism #FutureGovernance #SystemThinking #RegenerativeEconomy #AIandSociety #Sustainability #GlobalCooperation #AtoArkorful #HumanFlourishing #GovernanceInnovation
