The UK’s nuclear renaissance is gaining momentum, but smarter, proportionate regulation is key to turning ambition into reality. 📘 New blog post 📘 Earlier this year, the Government launched the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce — a welcome move to take a fresh look at how regulation can better support the UK’s growing nuclear ambitions. With construction well underway at Hinkley Point C, and Sizewell C now entering its construction phase, the momentum behind new nuclear is real. Add to that the growing interest in AMRs and SMRs, and it’s clear we’re entering a new phase of clean energy delivery. The Taskforce’s new interim report is well-timed, calling for a “once-in-a-generation” reset to ensure regulation keeps pace with the scale and speed of what’s needed. From safety and planning to environmental rules and international alignment, there’s a lot to unpack. In latest policy and regulatory blog, I’ve shared my perspective on what reform could look like and how smarter, proportionate regulation can help us build clean energy faster, without compromising safety. This includes: 🔹 A more risk-based approach to regulation 🔹 Reform of environmental rules to unlock low-carbon projects 🔹 Better coordination across regulators and planning frameworks 🔹 International alignment to reduce duplication and delays 🔹 A clear pathway for financing and siting new nuclear projects The nuclear renaissance is alive and well – and this is a moment to get regulation right, not just for nuclear, but for the UK’s clean energy future. 📖 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/ey8iVXc5
