Big news in heavy-duty transport: Volvo Trucks introduces the world’s first stop/start engine functionality integrated with I-Roll, designed to reduce fuel consumption and lower CO₂ emissions. Built on top of I-See and I-Roll, this innovation uses road and topographic data so the engine can temporarily shut off when the truck is coasting downhill. No fuel used, no tailpipe CO₂ emitted during that phase. “Our engineers have done it again – innovating a new engine technology that contributes to making transport by truck more fuel-efficient.” — Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management Key highlights: • Activates above 60 km/h on suitable terrain • Adds up to approximately 1% in fuel and CO₂ savings on top of existing efficiencies • Available for order from November 2025 on Volvo FH and FH Aero with the 13-litre diesel engine Read more: NL: https://lnkd.in/emfHPSSP FR:https://lnkd.in/eZH7i4Hm This development strengthens Volvo Trucks’ long-term commitment to decarbonising road transport, alongside battery-electric and fuel-cell options. #VolvoTrucksBelgium #Sustainability #Innovation #VolvoTrucks #Decarbonisation #Press

⬇️🚀🚀Follow ///Anis Maaouia Electric vehicles aren’t a 21st-century invention—they were among the first automobiles ever built. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, electric cars were actually more popular than gasoline or steam vehicles because they were quieter, cleaner, and easier to operate. In cities like London and New York, electric taxis and delivery trucks were a common sight, offering early glimpses of what we now call sustainable transport. The shift away from electric vehicles came as gasoline engines improved and oil became cheap and widely available. The introduction of the electric starter in 1912 eliminated one of the biggest drawbacks of early gas cars—hand cranking—and mass production by Ford made combustion vehicles far more affordable. By the 1920s, internal combustion engines had largely taken over the market. Now, more than a century later, advances in battery technology and global climate goals are driving a true electric comeback. What started as a forgotten chapter of history is becoming the foundation for the future of mobility—proof that innovation often moves in cycles. #Anis_Maaouia #ElectricVehicles #EVHistory #EngineeringFacts #SustainableTransport #AutomotiveHistory

In a pioneering step for sustainable transport, France has activated the first motorway in the world equipped with a dynamic wireless-charging system designed to recharge electric vehicles while they are driving. On the A10 motorway, approximately 40 km southwest of Paris, a consortium led by VINCI Autoroutes in collaboration with Electreon, VINCI Construction, Gustave Eiffel University and Hutchinson has launched the “Charge as You Drive” project, embedding induction coils beneath the pavement to deliver upwards of 200-300 kW of wireless power to vehicles in motion. This system is being tested on a roughly 1.5–2 km section of real traffic, with equipped vehicles including heavy-duty trucks, buses, utility vans and passenger cars. Early results show the technology can deliver peak power above 300 kW and average power above 200 kW under optimal conditions. By enabling vehicles to charge while moving, the innovation promises a future where battery sizes can be reduced, charging stops eliminated, and heavy-road transport substantially decarbonised—addressing one of France’s major emissions sources from road freight. #ElectricRoads #WirelessCharging #EV #france
