It is my great pleasure and honor to be speaking next week at https://securewv.org. I'll be rolling out my latest version of "We Don't Like That Part, so we Turned it Off" -- Talking about all of the lovely misunderstood security tools that come freely available with many Linux distributions. Now updated with even more utilities that folks turn off! I'll demonstrate how these tools function, what they're for, and how they work together. #redhat #rhel #securewv #linux

EDR agents have fewer features on Linux/Unix mainly because of system fragmentation, unstable kernel instrumentation, and lower market demand. Windows offers standardized APIs like ETW and a uniform environment, while Linux has many distros, kernel versions, and no stable interception framework. Most attacks and endpoints also target Windows, making it the commercial priority. Linux EDRs focus on core process and network monitoring, though newer tools using eBPF are beginning to close the capability gap.
