Let’s compare apples to apples … internet adoption was not about internet itself. Many people didn’t have personal computers to adopt internet. :)
Wow! This chart is wild.
It is reminiscent of the speed at which microchips increased in capacity. The speed of adoption also presents a challenge of assessing risk and impact. When one is driving a car on a winding, unfamiliar road, the faster the speed the greater the risk going around curves. You don't stop the car to walk around the corner to survey the road, but you might let off the accelerator to be able to respond without going over a cliff.

1wDo you think part of the difference this time is accessibility? Right now all of us walk around with smart phones. Internet adoption was definitely going to take longer given how many homes, schools and businesses needed to get access to a computer much less the Internet.
