The numbers speak for themselves. Since 2002, Global Fund–supported programs have helped drive: • 62% reduction in new HIV infections • 74% drop in AIDS-related deaths This progress shows what is possible when evidence-based interventions, innovative science, and strong health systems come together at scale. With new tools like lenacapavir and sustained investment in health infrastructure, we have a historic opportunity to accelerate progress and move closer to ending HIV as a public health threat.

The Global Fund 2025 Results Report is out. Encouraging progress is being made in the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria, with millions accessing lifesaving treatment and prevention. At the same time, the report reminds us of the setbacks and challenges that demand bold investments, innovative approaches, and stronger community systems. Global Fund: Result Report 2025 Tuberculosis: State of the Fight Driven by strong political leadership, the fight against TB moved resolutely forward. While ending TB by 2030 looks challenging, it is clear that we can accelerate progress toward the End TB Strategy pathway to bring the TB pandemic to an end by 2035. In 2024, the Global Fund partnership maintained strong momentum against the world’s deadliest infectious disease, with a full recovery from the setbacks caused by COVID-19 and more people with TB found and treated than ever before. Working hand in hand with communities most affected by the three diseases, in 2024 Global Fund-supported TB programs treated 7.4 million people with TB.  Screening and testing continued, and efforts to find undiagnosed people with TB – a key element of a successful fight against the disease – expanded. A game-changing scale-up of innovative tools and approaches in the countries most affected by TB has led to more people being successfully diagnosed, treated and cured of the disease. Cutting-edge tools such as AI-powered computer-aided detection software and digital portable chest X-rays are revolutionizing TB screening. The Global Fund has invested over US$193 million over the 2021-2025 period to roll out AI-enabled TB screening in more than 20 countries. AI is not only a tool that can help us beat TB, but also a platform that can power a much more efficient use of resources, support integrated service delivery, and strengthen pandemic preparedness.

Progress against TB is real. In 2024 The Global Fund supported programmes treated 7.4 million people for TB, provided preventive therapy to 3.4 million people and expanded access to treatment for drug resistant TB and people living with HIV. This is what investment delivers: more lives saved, stronger health systems and communities protected. Yet TB still kills 1.3 million people every year. Sustained commitment to the Global Fund, which provides nearly three quarters of all international financing for TB, is vital to close the gaps and accelerate progress. Programmatic Results at a Glance HIV ·        25.6M people on antiretroviral therapy for HIV. ·        46.6M HIV tests taken (11.7M by priority and key populations). ·        12.3M people reached with HIV prevention services (7.7M from key populations). ·        648K mothers living with HIV received medicine to keep them alive and prevent transmitting HIV to their babies. ·        1.4M people received antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis. Tuberculosis ·        7.4M people treated for TB. ·        120K people on treatment for drug-resistant TB. ·        317K people with HIV and TB were on antiretroviral therapy during TB treatment. ·        2.2M people living with HIV on antiretroviral therapy initiated TB preventive therapy. ·        3.4M people exposed to TB received preventive therapy. Malaria ·        162M insecticide-treated mosquito nets distributed to protect families from malaria. ·        360M suspected cases of malaria tested. ·        173M malaria cases treated. ·        50.9M children received seasonal malaria chemoprevention. ·        17.8M pregnant women received preventive treatment for malaria. 

🌍 The fight against malaria hangs in the balance.   Today, The Global Fund released their annual report, showing progress in the fight to end malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB.   Commenting on the report, our Executive Director of Advocacy & Strategy, Gareth Jenkins, said:   “Despite progress in the past two decades, this report again sounds the alarm that a full malaria resurgence looms due to a perfect storm of extreme weather events, humanitarian crises and funding shortfalls.    But the briefing also demonstrates the positive dramatic impact of the Global Fund in providing tools like insecticide-treated mosquito nets and seasonal malaria chemoprevention, primarily for children in sub-Saharan Africa.    This is why it truly is a matter of life or death that world leaders back the Global Fund at its forthcoming budget replenishment; failing to do so will only increase the chances of unleashing one of the greatest surges in malaria that we’ve seen on record.”    The Global Fund saves lives every day. In less than a quarter century, the Global Fund partnership – driven by country leadership, affected communities and front-line health workers – has slashed the combined death rate from AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria by 63% and cut the combined incidence rate by 42%. "This shows that with the right tools, strong partnerships and sustained investment, we can change the course of global health for the better,” said Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund. “But in today’s fast-changing geopolitical environment, there is no room for complacency. The global health community must move faster to reduce fragmentation, eliminate duplication and make it easier for countries to work with us.
