🧀 We're thrilled to officially announce our investment in Nutropy, a Paris-based foodtech company using precision fermentation to bring us the cheese we know and love, without the carbon footprint. Zero Carbon Capital co-led their oversubscribed seed round alongside Big Pi Ventures, and joined by Big Idea Ventures, Beta Lab, Wyngate Inc., Desai Ventures, PVS Investments, Novax, and others. Nutropy raised a €7m seed round, including public funding, to scale their game-changing technology. We love cheese. But the reality is, it is one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Plant-based alternatives have failed to capture the market (just 1% share!) because they can't replicate the taste, texture, and melt of the real thing. Nutropy has solved the #1 problem that has held back animal-free cheese: functionalised caseins.
