Fleet Decarbonization at Hapag‑Lloyd: Smoother Hulls, Smarter Shipping ⚓

Keeping a vessel’s hull clean isn’t just good practice – it’s essential for improving fuel efficiency, reducing emissions, and protecting marine ecosystems. That’s why Hapag-Lloyd is using In-Transit Hull Cleaning (ITCH), an innovative grooming technology from our Norwegian partner Shipshave. The tool enables the crew to gently remove early biofouling while the vessel is sailing. The impact? Up to 16% improved performance and over 8 tons of fuel saved per day.
