DAN'S WINE BLOG- THIS WEEK'S WINE REVIEW

Friday the 13th, the perfect day to end this blogging year, with my usual Top 20 wines of the year. These are some of the best, most delightful wines I have enjoyed tasting during the course of this challenging year.

They are not in any particular order – so here goes

Penfolds Grange 1973- Magnificent, still tight with years of life left in it.

Seppelts Moyston Claret 1964- one of the best wines I have ever tasted

Jordan Estate (Georgian style) Saperavi 2023- Oh So Georgian

Morris of Rutherglen Classic Muscat N/V- world class fortified

Seppelts Para Port 1939- Amazingly bright & vibrant at 85 yrs old.

Hahndorf Hill Winery 2020 Benediction Blend (Blaufrankisch/St Laurent/Zweigelt) - Adelaide Hills- amazing

@WillemKurtz 2022 Chardonnay Beechworth- brilliant

Domäne Wachau 2014 Gruner Veltliner Terrassen Fedespiel Austria quintessential Gruner!!

ALDI Australia 2021 Blackstone Paddock Barossa Shiraz- fabulous wine/mind blowing bargain!!

Chandon Australia N/V Blanc de Blanc Yarra Valley- superb bubbles

Freeman Vineyards 2023 ‘Altura Vineyards’ N.S.W. Hilltops Furmint. Unique & exciting.

De Bortoli Wines 1996 GS Reserve Yarra Valley Shiraz JWT Trophy winner- powering along at 28 years old.

d'Arenberg 2015 ‘The Dead Arm’ McLaren Vale Shiraz- magnificent with eons of life to come.

Purcari Wines Moldova 2021 Freedom Blend- Tribute Edition- a great wine for a brilliant cause- Slava Ukraina!!

Soumah Wines 2023 Yarra Valley Marzemino- best Aussie example I have tasted!!!

Atze's Corner Wines 2021 “Giant” Barossa Valley Durif- drop dead gorgeous

Stockman's Ridge 2022 ‘Signature range’ Orange District Cabernet Franc- spectacular

Bassham Wines 2023 Riverland Touriga Nacional- So vibrant & juicy!!!

Munda Wines 2023 Walgalu Country (Tumbarumba) Chardonnay. Tumbarumba Chardy is so exciting!!!

Paulmara Wines 2023 Barossa Valley ‘DENERO’ Nero d’Avola
