Huawei Transform Talks Interview

But who’s managing all that data, and making sure it’s used appropriately? 🤔

This question makes data quality, and data governance, among the IoT’s most important aspects, according to Dr. Antonio J. Jara, Chair of Data Quality and the Internet of Things at the IEEE P2510 standards, and CSO at Libelium .

Learn more about all these topics in this interview.

📊 “Data governance is about guaranteeing that you always have the data sovereignty to allow and understand, in a transparent way, how data is helping you,” Jara tells Huawei Editor-in-Chief Gavin Allen in a recent interview for Huawei Transform Talks.

Data Spaces in Huawei Cloud

It is very relevant to all the roles of data spaces in data governance. Huawei Cloud is working on this topic with the support of Roi Rodríguez de Bernardo .

Huawei Technologies Research and Development Belgium NV has available a Data Space connector in collaboration with Xlab and FhG ISST Fraunhofer-Institut für Software und Systemtechnik , using FIWARE and Eclipse Foundation Catena-X . This service is part of the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) catalogue.

🔐 “A lot of people are concerned about privacy or security… Data governance is about guaranteeing that you have always the control, the understanding about how your data is being used.”

IoT Redcap, the evolution with 5GAdvanced for an Internet of Video Things (IoVT)

Jara also said that RedCap, part of the 5.5G (5G-Advanced) technical standards, plays an important role in ensuring that ICT remains as sustainable as possible.

Huawei Wireless is leading 5GAdvanced with a wide range of use cases and devices supported. The Libelium Emerging Technologies team is exploring how to take advantage of all these benefits for the next generation of IoT devices that extend our current portfolio of solutions for Water Quality Monitoring, Air Quality Monitoring, Noise, Weather, Smart Grid (Digital Power), and Agrifood.

Examples of RedCap IoT devices for enabling a new space of IoT to reach a trillion Connected devices with a focus on smart grid, industry, computer vision, and oil and gas.

Impact of RedCap in IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities and Computer Science.

🚦 Internet of Things (IoT): The enhanced RedCap (5G reduced capability) enhances efficiency for IoT devices. It also has great benefits for industrial monitoring and critical infrastructures. It brings all the benefits of security and slicing from 5G, and RedCap ensures seamless data exchange.

🎦Internet of Video Things #IoVT: Computer Vision needs AI + IoT with high privacy, federated learning capabilities, and reliability. Cameras and surveillance systems will benefit from 5G RedCap as the main enabler.

#PassiveIoT, an evolution of the #RFID to reach a large-scale deployment, Smart Tags with lightweight, low-power capacities and connectivity.

🚘 #V2X (Vehicle to Everything): Autonomous driving systems #ADS are becoming a reality due to the network's higher scalability, cooperation with the infrastructure, and the valorization of edge computing capabilities.

📡 #NOCs Network Operation Centers: O&M is integrating AI to boost efficiency and the #3CC capabilities to address potential coverage and performance issues with AI agents to streamline network operations intelligently.

📶 #AIGC. 5GA goes beyond physical devices by enabling cloud-based phones and several remote applications. Through the 5GA extensions, older phones can perform like new ones with access to high processing, rendering and storage. It is the way to democratize access to technology!

From Libelium, we are committed to pushing Intelligence to the Edge and supporting new capabilities of 5G networks for IoT evolution. GSMA 3GPP Rev18 is a key evolution for supporting Mobile AI + IoT RedCap, enabling benefits to sectors where Libelium works as critical infrastructures, digital twins / urban planning, mobility, and environmental monitoring for smart cities.
