Emotions Are Fuel

Emotions Are Fuel

That can either propel us forward or drag us down.

A placement is never just a placement.

It’s a story. A turning point. Sometimes, even a lifeline.

When Emotions Become Action

When I first spoke with Elisangela, I could tell this wasn’t just a casual job search. She wasn’t just unhappy in her role.

She was worried about her future, her career, her direction.

That’s when people come to me.

Not when things are fine.

But when the emotional weight begins to overflow.

That’s when emotions become fuel but only if we use them.

From Overwhelm to Opportunity

We spent two months preparing her application not rushing, not sending out CVs en masse.

Instead, we positioned her intentionally for the Swiss market because that’s where she wanted to build her new life. In Switzerland.

Eventually, the opportunity came.

She prepared thoroughly.

She took the earliest interview slot. (Always a good sign.)

She showed up with energy, clarity, and calm intensity.

Because in the end, it’s not just skills that win the offer. It's how you show up.

It’s readiness. Energy. Urgency.

Even employers want to feel wanted.

The Cocktail That Propels You

When you mix:

  • frustration
  • desperation
  • inspiration
  • determination

…and then act decisively, that emotional cocktail becomes powerful.

But if you wait too long?

That same mix can turn toxic.

Emotions don’t always wait.

Sometimes, they’re the push you need right now.

A New Chapter

Elisangela didn’t freeze.

She moved.

And now she’s not just starting a new job she’s starting a new life chapter.

From the Atlantic shores of Portugal

To a two-year stay in Germany

To now, a fresh start in the heart of Europe.

My Reflection

Article content

As I sit here in Cyprus, where my father rests, and the legend of Aphrodite lives on—the goddess of love, passion, and transformation. I reflect on 22 years in international recruitment.

Hundreds of placements.

Countless conversations.

Many moving stories.

But this placement made something clear:

I’m no longer in the business of transactions.
I’m in the business of transformations.

If this story spoke to you, feel free to subscribe to this newsletter.

Each week, I’ll be sharing stories, reflections and insights on what it means to change:

Careers. Cities. Countries. Or even just your mindset.

Let’s go on this journey together.
