1️⃣ TWAS-Abdool Karim Award in Biological Sciences
Women scientists with impressive results in biology may be nominated for the TWAS-Abdool Karim Award in Biological Sciences. Female scientists must be from an African Least Developed Country and be not older than 45. Read more. Applications close on 14 March 2025.
2️⃣ TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Award
TWAS is seeking nominations for the 2024 TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Award in Medical Sciences. Candidates are women scientists from the science- and technology-lagging countries identified by TWAS. Read more. Applications close on 14 March 2025.
3️⃣ TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry
The call is open for the 2025 edition of the TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry. TWAS members, science academies, and institutions may submit a nomination. Eligible candidates are not older than 45 and national of a science-and-technology lagging country identified by TWAS. Read more. Applications close on 14 March 2025.
4️⃣ TWAS-CAS Young Scientists Award for Frontier Science
Talented young scientists living and working in a developing country may be nominated to receive the TWAS-CAS award for their scientific achievements in the Physical Sciences (including physics and chemistry). Read more. Applications close on 14 March 2025.
5️⃣ TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award
The TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award honours scientists from Least Developed Countries for their impactful results on the environment and biodiversity, in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals released by the UN as part of the 2030 Agenda. 6️⃣ Seed Grant for New African Principal Investigators (SG-NAPI)
Young scientists from African science- and technology-lagging countries identified by TWAS may apply for financial support to develop high-level research projects under the BMBF-supported SG-NAPI programme. Read more. Applications close on 27 March.
7️⃣ TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences: Groups
Research units in S&T-lagging countries identified by TWAS are eligible to receive Sida-supported grants to develop high-level research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Read more. Applications close on 3 April.
8️⃣ TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences: Individuals
Individual scientists in S&T-lagging countries identified by TWAS may apply for Sida-supported grants to carry out high-level research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Read more. Applications close on 3 April.
9️⃣ TWAS Research Grants Programme: Maintenance
Sida-supported grants are available to past TWAS grantees for equipment maintenance and repair. Both individual young researchers and research units in the science-and-technology-lagging countries identified by TWAS may apply. Read more. Applications close on 3 April.
🔟 TWAS Research Grants Programme for Interdisciplinary Research: Collaborative Grants
High-level scientists aiming to develop a collaborative project may apply for a Sida-supported interdisciplinary research. The research must be carried out by two principal investigators in the S&T-lagging countries identified by TWAS. Read more. Applications close on 3 April.
