Mid-Year Check-In: Why This Is the Right Time to Reassess Your Goals (Especially If You’re in Perimenopause or Menopause)
Somewhere between managing symptoms and keeping up with life’s challenges, your goals might’ve slipped into the background.
I’m not here to tell you to push harder or pretend nothing’s changed. Because if you’re in perimenopause or menopause—everything has changed.
But as we enter the second half of the year, let's take a moment to pause and reflect.
What’s Actually Draining You (It’s Not Just the Hormones)
Hormonal changes can impact everything from your sleep to your appetite to your motivation. I work with a lot of women who come to me feeling like they’ve lost their rhythm.
But the thing I see most often?
Women trying to live by old standards and holding themselves to the same expectations they had five, ten, twenty years ago.
The “I should be able to handle this” voice. The guilt over slowing down or not achieving everything planned. The pressure to “keep up.”
All of that takes a toll. And most of the time, it goes unacknowledged.
So before you set any goals, pause and ask yourself these questions:
What am I still trying to prove?
Who am I trying to keep up with?
What am I holding onto that no longer serves me?
If the answer is rooted in old versions of success that no longer apply—give yourself permission to update them.
Reframing Goals in Midlife
In my own journey through menopause, I’ve had to rewrite what progress looks like.
Some weeks, it’s eating regular meals and walking around the park. Other weeks, it’s letting myself cancel everything and rest without making it mean something’s wrong.
And I had to learn to be ok with that.
When I work with clients, we look beyond just nutrition or fitness. We find answers to these questions:
What would actually feel good in your body?
How do you want to show up in your life?
What goals match your real capacity—not what you think is ideal?
Reconnecting With Yourself
Something I see all the time—especially during perimenopause and menopause—is women feeling completely disconnected from their bodies. And when that connection slips, it becomes really hard to set goals that actually feel aligned. Because if you don’t feel at home in your body, it’s so easy to fall into making choices from a place of frustration, urgency, or shame... instead of self-trust.
It’s also tempting to say: “I’ll start fresh Monday,” “next month,” “after the summer holidays.” But here’s the problem: that “start over” mindset often comes with unrealistic pressure and all-or-nothing thinking.
What actually helps?
Taking a moment to slow down—enough to really hear what your body’s telling you, even if you don’t like the answer.
Noticing how different foods actually make you feel—instead of getting stuck in judging them as “good” or “bad.”
Finding a way to move your body each day—even if it’s five minutes, even if you don’t think it counts as a workout.
Tuning into the quiet signs that your stress is building—before it shows up as exhaustion, snapping at people, or feeling completely off balance.
Letting the small wins matter—even when your mind insists they’re not enough, and you should have done more.
Showing yourself kindness on the days when nothing goes to plan—because those days will come, and they don’t mean you’ve failed.
So Remember…
Before you start mapping out the rest of the year, pause and ask yourself: “How do I actually want to feel for the rest of this year?”
And if you’re worn out from questioning every decision… if you’re stuck trying to keep up with an old version of yourself… or if your symptoms feel unpredictable and relentless —please know, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I’m here to support you.

2moAbsolutely Brilliant message! I share true wealth is having success in all areas of our life. I refer to it as the Seven 'F''s,... Faith, Family, Finance, Fitness, FUN, Philanthropic and Food. We should take the time to enjoy our time. It doesn't mean we don't work hard, I know I do. But I also take time to rest and recover. Walking on the beach, playing with my precious grandson or sometimes I just sit in silence. Incredible message Lisa Feveck RD, this is why you are our Menopause Mentor. <3
