In time for latest NAEP scores, a new Education Policy and Research Initiative will include NSSA, GenAI, and more

Welcome to 2025!

We made it to the new year! We hope you are feeling energized to take on new challenges to support more students, and we are ready and willing to help you in every way that we can. 

What’s newSCALE Initiative – a new education policy and research initiative at Stanford, which includes a new project on generative AI in education.

Why it matters: Recent NAEP scores highlight the urgent need for new ideas, new innovation, and new opportunities in education. But be prepared to pay attention to the bright spots, which is where some of those ideas and innovations will lie.

Here’s to starting 2025 with inspiration for a strong path forward for all of our students. NSSA is excited to be part of your journey with new resources and initiatives.

Introducing the SCALE Initiative at Stanford University

Yesterday, we officially launched the SCALE Initiative at Stanford University , a new initiative of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning , which will include NSSA as one of its projects.

SCALE, led by Professor Susanna Loeb, is dedicated to bridging the gap between education research and real-world decision-making, helping education leaders implement proven solutions to improve student outcomes and equity. This will entail 1) conducting rigorous research, 2) developing evidence-based tools, and 3) engaging with the field to support and scale promising solutions in critical issues across K-12 education.

This initiative will use research, partnerships, mentorship, and engagement to advance the following projects:
