Today is officially my last day at Soil Association.

Today is officially my last day Soil Association.

My Soil journey got off to a little bit of a rocky start, my Covering Letter stated how much I wanted to work for the ‘Social Association’ still got the job somehow. I created a secret @soilassociationbeauty Instagram and hired a very nervous yet very fashionable young lady, who told us that her favourite Emoji was the Poo Emoji - she was hired instantly. 💩

2018 came around and appeared that all everyone wanted to talk about was Periods. I will forever live on the Soil Associations YouTube account discussing tampons. It's true that the camera does in fact, add 10 pounds.

My Soil Adventures consist of:

• Spending more time in London than when I lived there

• Spending far too many nights at the IBIS Excel with our events manager Tiina- we were witness to an actual murder. I remember opening the curtains of my hotel room to a view of a white tent and police tape. The following year Tiina and I shared a room and I gave her my conjunctivitis.

•Visited Paris and attended a Chemistry Conference- quickly realising that I was severely under-qualified (Emma, our in-house Chemist proceeded to attend in the years that followed)

 • Washington DC with one and only Sarah Compson – including Line dancing, visits to the White House and a bit of work

• Nuremberg… twice…don’t go there, it’s dark and depressing in February.

• My final excursion was Zwolle in the Netherlands, where I was asked to speak in an inflatable Igloo… true story.

I cannot end my story without mentioning my idol, Peter Melchett who supported me from the very beginning often sending me emails of encouragement which I would read like a child that had made their parent proud. I remember when a few of us found out he had a Wikipedia page and wondered why in the world was he working at Soil? 😉 We interviewed Peter for our last campaign which you can read here . In our last meeting together , I think everyone was in a terrible mood. Jenny Collins was 8 months pregnant and politely told Peter that she wouldn’t be able to work on a Beauty campaign with him as she wouldn’t be here. Peter cuttingly reminded Jenny that ‘maternity leave doesn’t last forever, you know’ followed by a witty laugh and a chesty cough.

Thank you to everyone who’s made my Journey so memorable 💚
