#C2QA researchers at Princeton University have achieved coherence times exceeding one millisecond in a type of superconducting #qubit called the 2D transmon. Published in Nature this week, this coherence time is three times longer than the best ever reported in a laboratory setting, and nearly 15 times longer than the industry standard for large-scale processors. “This advance brings #quantum computing out of the realm of merely possible and into the realm of practical,” said Andrew Houck, dean of Princeton Engineering and former C2QA director. Check out this awesome resource from Quantum Science Center! #QuantumQuintet
Are YOU smarter than a quantum scientist? 😏 Apart from the actual quantum scientists reading this post, that's unlikely. Perhaps you’ve taken a peek into the field of quantum and found yourself reeling from concepts that you couldn’t quite wrap your head around? 😩 You are not alone! Quantum Science is complex — to say the very least — and its principles can be tricky. The Quantum Science Center has developed a glossary to help decipher the fundamentals of quantum. Follow along as we share new terms or visit (and bookmark!) the page for the full library of terms. Either way, welcome to Quantum 101! 📖 📌Glossary: https://lnkd.in/eKz4FPMA

Non-linear quantum mechanical evolution permits different branches of the quantum state wave-function to communicate with each other. This experiment improves the current bounds on such non-linearities by a factor of 50. New science highlight from our teams at Fermilab and The Johns Hopkins University. ⚛️ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g6H-zMH3 This research was recently published in Physical Review D.

Excited to wrap up 6 weeks with the Co-Design Center for Quantum Advantage and Brookhaven National Laboratory Foundations of QIS 101 program! We spent this time going through high-level math, quantum physics, scientific computing, and running a program on the IBM Torino QPU. I am even more excited to continue this path of quantum computing and research! Thanks to everyone who made this program possible for the inspiration and guidance! This is #WhereIQuantum #C2QA #BNL

I’m proud to share that I just completed the 6‑week Quantum Information Science course with the Brookhaven National Laboratory Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA). Over six weeks of daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Zoom sessions, I dove deep into scientific computing, math, and quantum algorithms—using Python to tackle dozens of projects, from scripting factorials of complex numbers to designing mazes that stump multiple solving algorithms. I am beyond thankful to David Biersach for spending six weeks teaching us this valuable information and to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for funding and supporting this incredible learning experience. #WhereIQuantum #QuantumComputing #Python #ScientificComputing #BNL #C2QA #STEM

Congratulations to the 35 students and professors who completed QIS 101 this summer! 🎉 In just six weeks, they tackled the equivalent of a 12-credit college course that dove deep into the math, physics, and computer science topics that form the foundational pillars of #quantum computing. With 58 assignments under their belts, the graduates are now more prepared to take on real-world quantum computing challenges. 👏 ⚛️
