When parents and youth agree on what’s causing stress — like loneliness — it signals urgency. And when they don’t, it reveals blind spots that can prevent young people from getting support.
Our new Intergenerational Stressors Study, conducted with support from the Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health, explores how families across the U.S. understand today’s mental health challenges — and how shared ground can become a foundation for action.

One of the leading causes of illness and disability among young people globally, is mental health challenges, as underscored by this recent study carried out by our partners at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). Published ahead of World Mental Health Day (today) the latest systematic review, in collaboration with local and international partners, also breaks down conditions such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder across South Africa.
The SNF Global Center at the Child Mind Institute's Scientific Lead in South Africa, Jason Bantjes, says barriers such as limited workforce and public awareness, and stigma can be contributing factors for young people not seeking the help they need.
We are working closely with SAMRC on our upcoming Expert Gathering in Cape Town, South Africa, where decision-makers, international partners and youth leaders will discuss evidence-based solutions towards advancing child and adolescent mental health care.
