  • Spacespresso (11 Sept. 2025) (s01e03) This is Spacepresso, Interplanetary Television’s daily space news - Asteroid 2025 QV9 made a close but safe flyby of Earth yesterday, confirmed by NASA. This asteroid, roughly the size of a commercial airliner, zoomed past at over 10,000 miles per hour at a non-threatening distance. Events like this highlight the importance of tracking near-Earth objects, but there’s no cause for alarm—just another cosmic near miss. The James Webb Space Telescope has revealed a brilliant cluster of newborn stars in the Lobster Nebula. Hidden behind cosmic dust until now, these stars burn nearly eight times hotter than our Sun. The stunning display centers on the Pismis 24 cluster, a fiery star nursery shaping future star systems. Webb is also sharpening the search for Earth-like atmospheres on distant exoplanets by using Earth’s atmosphere as a model. Scientists study how starlight filters through Earth’s gases—oxygen, methane, and water vapor—to better detect these biosignatures elsewhere in the galaxy. This method brings us closer to finding life-friendly planets beyond our solar system. NASA’s Perseverance rover spotted a rock on Mars resembling a turtle poking its head out of a shell. Captured on Sol 1,610, this is an example of pareidolia, where familiar shapes appear in random objects. Beyond the fun illusion, these formations help scientists understand Mars’ geological history and erosion processes. Later today, NASA will hold a media briefing to share new results from the Martian rock sample called Sapphire Canyon, collected in July 2024 from Jezero Crater. This sample could provide key insights into Mars’ ancient water systems and potential habitability, with the scientific community expecting important revelations. That’s all for today’s Spacepresso. • Spacespresso (10 Sept. 2025) (s01e02) - This is Space-spresso, Interplanetary Television’s daily dose of space news. "Espresso senore, per favore!" - Let's kick in with SpaceX Starship's 10th Test Flight's Success. SpaceX successfully launched its Super Heavy-Starship rocket on its 10th test flight, marking a significant success after a series of previous failures. The flight is a crucial step forward for the program, which is key to NASA's planned moon landing. NASA to reveal new Perseverance rover discovery. NASA is scheduled to hold a teleconference to discuss new findings from the Perseverance rover's rock analysis on Mars. The discovery is expected to provide further insights into the Red Planet's geological history. The James Webb and Hubble Space Telescopes have combined to capture stunning “Butterfly Star” new images of a young star known as IRAS 04302. The images show a protostar and its surrounding planet-forming disc, offering a unique look into the early stages of star formation. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is targeting a September 23 launch date for NASA's IMAP mission. The spacecraft will travel a million miles from Earth to map the heliosphere and enhance our understanding of space weather. A new and perplexing gamma-ray burst has been discovered by astronomers that repeats over the course of a day, unlike others that erupt in milliseconds. This unprecedented behavior has left astronomers puzzled and is now under intense study. That's it for today's Space-spresso. Come back tomorrow for more Space News to digest with your morning espresso! Interplanetary Television, over and out!

  • Spacespresso (9 Sept. 2025, s01e01) This is "Spacespresso", Interplanetary Television’s daily dose of space news. - ESA and Italy's ASI plan to launch Space Rider, a reusable robotic spacecraft set for 2025, to test new tech and carry experiments, marking a key step in Europe's reusable spaceflight ambitions. Canada is building its first commercial spaceport, the Atlantic Spaceport Complex in Newfoundland and Labrador, aiming to offer cost-effective satellite launch services and boost Canada's role in space commerce. Biotechnology may revolutionize space exploration by supporting long-term missions through resource recycling and advanced life-support systems, enabling safer interplanetary travel. NASA invites industry to help develop private orbital stations under its Commercial Destinations program, marking a shift to commercially-driven space habitats. The interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS nears the Sun, with an active tail giving scientists a rare chance to study alien materials beyond our solar system. That's it for today's Spacespresso!
