Scientific discoveries are not solitary pursuits. So we’ve been asking ourselves: Why do our monuments stand in isolation? In Denmark, we believe science thrives when people come together across borders, disciplines, and generations. 🌎🤝 That idea? It’s been part of the Danish research community ever since Niels Bohr walked the halls of the University of Copenhagen. To celebrate that spirit, Bohr’s now got company. A new installation called ‘United Minds’ just popped up in front of the University of Copenhagen - placing Bohr side by side with some of the brilliant minds who helped shape his research and breakthroughs. ✨ The installation is a tribute to teamwork. And a gentle reminder that the future of science isn’t something we build alone. It will be up in Copenhagen from 19-21 November, during the Open World conference. 🎥 Take a look and watch the campaign film here: https://hubs.ly/Q03T-7X40 #unitedmindsdenmark #sciencehubdenmark

Leave your laptop unattended at a café? In Denmark, that’s not a trust fall. It’s just what you do. 🧘♀️☕ Trust is deeply rooted in the Danish way of life, and the sense of community it creates makes everyday life feel safe, relaxed, and more human. You’ll find the ‘culture of trust’ in the little things: keeping windows open at night or leaving babies napping in strollers outside cafés. And in the big things: people generally trust authorities, the political and judicial systems, and therefore are happy to pay relatively high taxes (ouch) to keep the welfare state going and everyday life good for many. So yes, you can leave your laptop for a bathroom break. The odds are, it’ll still be there when you return. 💻❤️ Explore more about life in Denmark: https://hubs.ly/Q03PG1rH0

😬 We’d be lying if we said this is what we expected when we asked Jefferson Bond to share his perspective on life in Denmark as an expat. How could he do this to a classic Danish ‘smørrebrød’?! ... well, perhaps we got exactly what we asked for. 😅😂 📽️ 🇩🇰 Luckily, we’re (still) happy to present you with this new episode of this film series’ Life in Denmark - with Jefferson Bond’, which offers a very unique view of the Danish way of life. Marina WON! ... a good laugh. 🏆😂 Marina Greis turned out to be the ‘lucky potato’ who won tickets to Jefferson Bond’s comedy show! The show centres around Jefferson’s personal experience of being caught between two worlds: his Irish-English roots and his life in Denmark. And the things here he still finds... well, weird. 🤠 When Marina (originally from Germany) entered the competition, we asked her about the funny/weird/surprising things she had experienced in Denmark: 💬 “The funniest and most incomprehensible thing for me in Denmark is the polite greeting ‘Tak for Sidst’. The Danes translate it into all languages, after which the stunned foreigner does not know what to say to it. Thank you for what? For the last what? Dear Danes, do not translate ‘Tak for Sidst’ into other languages! Stop this mess! “ We thought that was quite funny. And spot on. 😅 Please share similar fun or absurd observations you’ve had as an expat in Denmark 👇

🌿 What if your research career gave you space to grow - and time to live? José Bonilla, Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen, came to Denmark for the world-class research facilities. But he stayed for the people and the balance. “I enjoy the freedom of pausing work to do other things in life.” José's experience working with biosolutions research in Denmark isn’t just about what happens in the lab. It’s about collaborating across disciplines, living sustainably, and finding the freedom and space to think. Could Denmark be your next step in research? Have a look, there might be an open position that suits just you 👉 https://hubs.ly/Q03P_BLz0

Need a moment to slow down and soak up some sunshine? We get it. 🌞 Prioritising a good balance between work and life is deeply rooted in most Danish workplaces (just check the country rankings). Rubens, a Brazilian researcher who moved to Denmark with his husband, has experienced this firsthand: “Science is serious here, but so is life. There is room to breathe, room to build, room to belong. ” 🌈 You can find the Rubens' full story, along with other expats' sharing, right here: https://lnkd.in/dyyujCKa And if you're wondering whether life in Denmark could be your dream life... 🌍 Start exploring: https://hubs.ly/Q03KXRhl0
