This is a good article demonstrating what my conversations with many customers are showing me. 1️⃣ Purpose-Driven Transformation GenAI is a tool, not the end goal. Start with a clear vision of your business transformation and then determine how GenAI fits in. Sometimes, predictive AI or regular process automation might be what you actually need. Avoid implementing GenAI in isolation. 2️⃣ Conversational or Not? Understand what you're replacing and why. In some scenarios, like call centers, one-shot GenAI responses are more effective. In contrast, sales teams might benefit from deep, conversational AI assistants to strategize and close deals. Always ask: How many clicks do I eliminate? Will the output require a follow-up? This will guide your technical strategy. 3️⃣ Short-Term Wins for Long-Term Success Justify your long-term transformation with short-term ROI. Quick wins like one-shot GenAI deployments and small-scale pilots can pave the way for larger, transformative initiatives. If you don't achieve any quick wins within a month, it's time to reassess and change your strategy. 💡 Many companies might struggle with this alone. Build an internal AI practice but don't hesitate to seek help from other departments and system integrators. #AI #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #BusinessStrategy https://lnkd.in/gfWmD34Y

As more and more PE-owned organizations aim to digitally transform, executives need to reflect on their leadership style and potentially update it. A 2025 integrative study in Administrative Sciences (Sacavém et al.) analyzed 34 peer-reviewed articles. The key insight? Transformational leadership is what separates digital transformation success from expensive failure. Based on the research, successful leaders excel at four things: 🔹 Inspire innovation. There is no right way to do this but consider exploring the following tools in the toolkit: - Starting small: Book club or training series with thought provoking content, small, focused projects solving specific pain points - Bigger commitment: Internal hackathons, innovation-focused teams, skunk works 🔹 Digital upskilling. Start with yourself. Leaders who build digital literacy set the tone for learning across the org. Then upskill your team across all seniority levels and functions with structured and unstructured trainings. 🔹 Manage uncertainty. Update your decision-making heuristics and models to account for the dynamic environment we all operate in today. Ensure you ringfence risk with guardrails and have agile processes to update goals and objectives with higher frequency than annual planning. 🔹Empower teams to take calculated risks. Building agile governance models is one way to do this. You will need dynamic, real-time dashboards to be able to rapidly iterate and identify what is working and what not. Also, being clear about the desired goal (e.g., strategy on a page) and communicating it across the organization helps align and organize teams. What else have you found useful when guiding your organization through a digital transformation? #SciencemeetsStrategy #DigitalTransformation #Leadership Full article: Sacavém, A., de Bem Machado, A., dos Santos, J. The Keys to Successful Digital Transformation Digital transformation is essential for companies wanting to thrive in the 21st century. Leveraging new technologies like artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things can lead to increased productivity, better customer engagement, and new revenue streams. However, many digital transformation efforts fail to live up to the hype. Based on research and expert insights, here are the most important things to keep in mind for successful digital transformation: Get Leadership Alignment Any major business transformation needs commitment and support from senior leadership. Executives need to fully understand and buy into the vision for digital transformation. They must be willing to invest appropriate resources and actively communicate support to the entire organization. Focus on the Customer Experience At its heart, digital transformation is about using technology to deliver better customer experiences. Keep the customer journey at the center of your digital roadmap. Leverage data and feedback loops to fully understand pain points and identify areas for innovation. Embrace Agility and Speed Digital transformation requires a focus on speed and agility. Companies today need to act fast to keep up with the competition. Take an agile approach based on rapid iteration and continuous improvement. Be flexible and willing to experiment often. Build Digital Skills and Talent Digital transformation efforts will stall without the right talent and skills. Identify capability gaps across areas like data science, design thinking and digital marketing. Recruit digitally-savvy talent and invest in upskilling the existing workforce through training programs. Leverage Data to Drive Decisions Data is a powerful asset in digital transformation. Leverage big data, analytics and AI to extract real-time insights that can inform decision making. Data should drive your digital efforts. Communicate and Manage Change Any organizational change brings challenges. To gain buy-in and reduce friction, establish clear communication plans for your digital initiatives. Help employees understand the reasons for change. Have a thoughtful change management strategy. While the technology side of digital transformation is exciting, it is not enough on its own. Paying close attention to leadership, culture, people and processes is just as crucial for true transformation. With a strategic, customer-centric approach, companies can unlock innovation and value through digital. #digitalbusinesstransformation #transformation #digital

[Case Study] Digital Transformation Initiative for Mid-size Retailer This case study examines the scenario: The organization is a mid-size retailer specializing in high-end home goods, facing market share erosion due to the rise of e-commerce and changing consumer behaviors. Despite having a solid brand and loyal customer base, the company's traditional brick-and-mortar operations have not kept pace with digital trends, resulting in a decline in foot traffic and sales. To remain competitive, the retailer must identify and strengthen its Key Success Factors in the digital age, especially around customer experience, operational agility, and omnichannel integration. The initial review of the retailer's situation suggests that the core issues may stem from a lack of digital integration and a failure to adapt to evolving consumer preferences. Hypotheses include: 1) The company's in-store experience is not effectively connected to its online presence, leading to missed opportunities for cross-channel synergy. 2) There is a significant gap in leveraging customer data to personalize experiences and drive loyalty. 3) Operational inflexibility hinders the organization's ability to respond quickly to market changes. The strategic overhaul of the retailer's business model can be systematically approached through a 5-phase consulting methodology, ensuring a comprehensive transformation of its Key Success Factors. This process will not only address immediate concerns but also lay the groundwork for sustained competitive advantage. Assessment and Benchmarking: Begin with an in-depth analysis of current operations, customer feedback, and market trends. Key activities include competitive benchmarking and identifying digital maturity levels. Common challenges often involve resistance to change and data silos, which can be mitigated through stakeholder engagement and transparent communication. Customer Experience Redesign: Focus on understanding and mapping the customer journey to identify pain points and opportunities for enhancement. Analytics play a crucial role in this phase, with insights leading to a tailored customer engagement strategy. Deliverables include a customer experience blueprint and an implementation roadmap. Transform with purpose: Technology drives change, but people power success Don’t commit one of the 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐬 of digital transformation! 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞: While technology is certainly an important aspect of digital transformation, it’s arguably more important to consider how the changes will impact employees. Strong leadership and good change management will help ensure employees are inspired, motivated, and aligned with the digital strategy. 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Customer experience must be at the heart of digital transformation. Process optimization and cost reduction will help improve the business, but they won’t change the game. Leveraging high-quality product, customer, and market data allows companies to create new business models that provide better product/service performance, customer experience, and business outcomes for customers. 𝐃𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞: Adopting and implementing a variety of new technologies that need to cohesively work together while simultaneously modifying processes and managing cultural changes is a tough undertaking. Very few companies, if any, have the expertise and experience in-house to pull it off. Partner with experts you trust! 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲: As organizations adopt new technologies, it's important to consider the security implications, both for the organization and for the customers. Cybersecurity is too important to be considered an afterthought in the digital transformation process. According to Microsoft’s Digital Defense Report 2022, Manufacturing at 28% had the highest ransomware incident and recovery engagements of any industry. 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞: Very few large-scale transformations go exactly as planned. In addition, technological advancements and market conditions are changing so fast that failure to react and adapt quickly can be catastrophic. Embrace digital and cultural agility to foster an environment of continual innovation. 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲: A good digital transformation strategy should describe what success looks like, how it will be graded, and how the combination of technologies will be integrated across all systems and processes to transform the business. 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Digital transformations are designed to be disruptive and can often be costly. Company leaders not only need to agree on the digital strategy, but they also must be fully committed. Otherwise, digital initiatives will run the risk of goal and priority misalignment, high levels of resistance, and loss of funding. It's amazing how many orgs would describe themselves as 'digitally overwhelmed'. This sense of being digitally overwhelmed generally encapsulates two states of disarray... First, an avalanche of data with no real idea of what to do with it. Second, a deluge of conflicting information on digital transformation, leaving orgs at a loss as to where to begin... (this is the more common problem) Whenever we are in a meeting with a client and it has become painfully clear that they are digitally overwhelmed, we stop, take two steps back and re-group. Because, oddly, the solution to both dilemmas is one and the same... The solution is always the same -- a clear, robust Digital Strategy. You'd be stunned, countless organizations are without a concise, 3-sentence digital strategy statement, addressing the 'why' of their digital transformation and the 'what' of their plan to make data their primary commodity... Being digitally overwhelmed is not a terminal diagnosis -- not fixing it, is death by a thousand papercuts, however. With a strategy-first approach, followed by a sound open architecture, leveraging the right technology, the situation is reversible... Focus on systematically and additively capturing digital events. then solve problems iteratively... Whether you're overwhelmed with data or unsure of where to start your digital transformation journey, the remedy is simple — establish a sound strategic foundation and start small. Make the first move... Always ensure you are serving the strategy -- and the rest will fall into place... Gilad Langer #DigitalTransformation #DigitalStrategy #Industry40 #IIoT
