Summary
In this chapter, we focused on engagement with cloud providers. We reviewed topics that will assist an organization in choosing a cloud provider (always focusing on business goals).
We then reviewed the cloud provider questionnaire, which allows customers to get familiar with and select mature cloud providers once they have decided to sign up with one.
We reviewed important topics that should appear in contracts with cloud providers, ensuring that both the legal and purchase departments have a solid understanding of what to look out for in the contractual phase.
Finally, we reviewed our ability as customers to measure the effectiveness of cloud environments (whether they are IaaS environments that we deploy and control or SaaS services that we use) by conducting penetration testing on cloud environments and the importance of following the cloud vendor’s terms of use.
