Why do I need to upload my purchase invoice? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon
Many of our books come with additional benefits that are instantly available when you buy a copy from packtpub.com. If you purchased a book from Amazon, O'Reilly, or any other store, we don’t want you to miss out on those benefits. To give you permanent access, we need to verify your purchase. Uploading your invoice is a one-time process that takes just a couple of minutes. Once done, the benefits are yours!
I bought my book from Amazon. Where can I find my invoice? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

Amazon (Desktop)

Note: On the mobile app? Scroll down to see instructions for downloading invoices through Amazon’s mobile app.

  1. Go to Amazon
    • Open amazon.com (or your local Amazon site) in a web browser.
    • Make sure you’re signed in with the account you used to purchase the book.
  2. Open Your Orders
    • Click the Returns & Orders link in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Search for Your Book
    • In the Your Orders section, type the name of the book into the search bar (top-right).
    • Click Search Orders.
  4. View Order Details
    • Locate the order for your book in the results.
    • Click View order details (usually at the top of that order section).
  5. Select the Invoice
    • Underneath the order number, click Invoice.
    • You may see options like Invoice1 and Printable Order Summary.
    • Choose Invoice1.
  6. Save the PDF
    • The invoice PDF will open in a new browser tab.
    • Download or save the PDF to your computer.

Amazon (Mobile App)

  1. Open the Amazon App
    • Launch the Amazon app on your smartphone or tablet.
    • Sign in if prompted.
  2. Go to Your Orders
    • Tap the Menu icon (≡) or your profile icon (depending on the app version).
    • Select Your Orders from the menu.
  3. Find Your Book Order
    • Look for the order containing your book.
    • If you have many orders, use the search field at the top to narrow it down.
  4. View Order Details
    • Tap on the order to open its details.
    • Depending on your version of the app, you might see Order Details or Order Info.
  5. Download or View Invoice
    • Look for a link or button labeled Invoice or Download Invoice.
    • Select it to open or save the invoice. (You may be asked which app you want to use to open the PDF.)
  6. Save the PDF
    • Once the invoice PDF is open, save it to your device storage.

Tip: In some mobile versions, you may need to tap Order Details again to see the invoice option. The exact steps can vary by region or app version.

O’Reilly Store (Desktop)

  1. Go to the O’Reilly Store Website
    • Visit oreilly.com and sign in to your O’Reilly account.
    • If you purchased directly from an O’Reilly Store page, ensure you use the same account.
  2. Access Your Account/Orders
    • Click on your profile name or Account in the top navigation (wording may vary).
    • Choose Orders, Order History, or a similar option to view your past purchases.
  3. Select Your Book Order
    • Find the order for the book you purchased.
    • Click View Order, Order Details, or any equivalent link.
  4. Locate the Invoice
    • On the order details page, look for a link labeled Invoice, Download Invoice, or View Invoice.
  5. Open/Save the Invoice
    • Click the invoice link. It will typically open a PDF in a new tab.
    • Download or save this PDF to your computer.

Note: O’Reilly’s interface can change over time. If you don’t see an “Invoice” link, check any Printable Receipt or Printable Order links, or contact O’Reilly’s customer support.

I have a physical invoice. What should I do? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon
If you have a physical invoice, first scan or photograph it so you can upload it online in a supported format. Make sure the file is either a PDF, JPG, or PNG, and does not exceed 10 MB in size. Place the document on a flat surface with good lighting. If you have a scanner, adjust the resolution settings to balance clarity and file size — 150 or 300 DPI is usually ideal. If you are using an iPhone, you can scan documents through the built-in 'Notes' app. Create a new note, tap the camera icon, and select 'Scan Documents.' Position your phone to clearly capture the invoice and save the scan. You can then export it as a PDF or photo and transfer it to your computer via email, AirDrop, or cloud storage. If you are using an Android device, use Google Drive's scan feature or a third-party scanning app. Start a new scan, align the camera, ensure there’s no glare, and save the scan as a PDF or JPG. To keep the size under 10 MB, adjust resolution settings or use compression tools. Check the file's size and format before uploading. If the file is too large, lower the resolution or compress it. Once ready, you can safely upload the file.
I still can’t find my invoice. What should I do? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon
Ensure you're signed in with the same account you used to purchase the book, as invoices are tied to the purchasing account. If you still can’t find the invoice, search by the order number or purchase date instead of the book’s title. Also, check your email for any order confirmation or invoice — and be sure to look in your spam or junk folders. If you’re still unable to locate it, contact the retailer’s customer service. They can usually help you retrieve your invoice.
Can I unlock multiple books at once? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon
No, currently, our system only supports unlocking one book at a time. If you purchased multiple Packt books from our partners, you'll need to unlock each one separately.
How safe is my personal data when I upload my invoice? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon
We use AI-based validation only to scan your invoice and verify your purchase. Your invoices are never shared with any third party outside of Packt. Your personal data remains safe and secure.
I couldn’t find my book in the search box. What should I do? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon
If your book is not available via search, please write to us at customercare@packt.com and mention the name of the book you want to unlock.
