Lachit Borphukan

Lachit Borphukan was a legendary general from 17th century Assam. He led the Ahoms to several victories against the Mughal forces, preventing them from conquering Assam. This portrait was created by Dr. Bhaskar Borgohain based on descriptions of Ahoms from the 17th century in the History of Assam by Sir Edward Gait.
