Furnace Pressure Control

The document discusses furnace pressure control for a CFBC boiler. It describes using the average of three furnace pressure measurements as the process value for a proportional-integral furnace pressure controller. The controller's output controls the inlet vanes of induced draft fans to keep furnace pressure stable during operation. It also explains selecting the signals from two healthy pressure transmitters and using those inputs for the PID controller which modulates the dampers or variable frequency drive of the induced draft fan to regulate furnace draft based on setpoint and process value comparisons.

LOOP CONTROL AND DISCRIPTION

Furnace Pressure Control:

The objective of furnace pressure control is to keep the furnace

pressure stable during operation. This is managed through controlled
inlet vane /Damper.

Typically there are three furnace pressure measurements in use, and

the average of those signals is used as process value of the furnace
pressure controller. The furnace pressure controller is a
proportional/integral type with a variable proportional gain.

The controllers output, that is based on the proportional/integral

action of the controller through auto manual station (to be realized PLC)
will control Inlet Vanes of both ID fans.(Inlet vanes control will be
operational when Fan running at constant speed)

Continue..

As per control loop we starts explain how we control the furnace draft
of boiler.

Furnace draft is controlled through Induced draft fan and Inlet guided
vane or VVVFD.

Initially we measure the furnace draft pressure from three pressure

transmitters(PT-1 ,2,3). We have 2 00 3(two out of three) selection
block by which we can select two healthy(transmitter which have less
deviation) transmitters and generate the process value for PID
controller.

We give the set point of furnace draft to PID controller. PID compare
the set value and the process value and generate the error to drive
the final control element(Dampers/VVVFD) of Induced draft fan.
