Group Norms

• Ask clarifying questions for the purpose of your own learning while
withholding judgment.
• No fault is to be given or taken.
Evaluation of Student Work Protocol
INTRODUCTION (5 minutes):
o Review completed Winsor Student Work Planning Template and provide a
brief overview of task and learning expectations.
o Review rubric or other scoring criteria.
EVALUATE STUDENT PERFORMANCE (10 Minutes):
o Exchange student work samples.
o Sort student work samples according to scoring criteria.
COLLEGIAL AND FOCUSED CONVERSATION (15 MINUTES):
o Begin with student work that is judged to have exceeded the standard or met
the most rigorous criteria on the rubric.
o Discuss similarities and differences among student work samples.
o Continue to examine student work samples in the remaining performance
groups.
o Reconsider original judgments regarding performance and re-sort as needed.
o Analyze common areas of strengths and weaknesses in student performance.
REFLECT, RECALIBRATE, AND REDESIGN (15 minutes):
o Questions for Discussion
Was the task clear to the students?
Was the rubric clear to the students?
Were my students appropriately prepared for this task?
What instructional changes need to be made to improve student
learning?
Is remediation necessary for some students?
What will we do for our students who are not meeting grade level
expectations?
