Hymns of Praise
YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION Verse I
7:30 a.m.
Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin, Each victry will help you, some other to win; Fight valiantly onward, evil passions subdue; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.
11:00 a.m.
Ask the Savior to help you, Comfort, strengthen And keep you, He is willing to aid you, He will carry you through.
Chorus
For all Hes done for me, Redeemed and set me free, And because, just because Hes God.
Chorus
Shun evil companions, bad language disdain, Gods name hold in revrence, Nor take it in vain, Be thoughtful and earnest, Kindhearted and true, Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.
When I come into His presence I humble myself, remembering What Hes done, the victories Hes won, so Ill praise Him, Ill praise Him.
Verse 2
To him that oer cometh, God giveth a crown, Through faith we will conquer, Though often cast down, He who is our Savior, our strength will renew, Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.
Verse III
For all Hes done for me, Redeemed and set me free, And because, just because Hes God.

Unison Scriptures
7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
1 SAMUEL 2:12; 22-25 (NIV) Elis sons were scoundrels; they had no regard for the Lord.
12
11:00 a.m.
ECCLESIASTES 9:10-11 (The Message) Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, for theres neither work to do nor thoughts to think In the company of the dead, where youre most certainly headed.
10
Now Eli, who was very old, heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 23So he said to them, Why do you do such things? I hear from all the people about these wicked deeds of yours. 24No, my sons; the report I hear spreading among the Lords people is not good. 25If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them? His sons, however, did not listen to their fathers rebuke, for it was the Lords will to put them to death.
22
I took another walk around the neighborhood and realized that on this earth as it isThe race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor satisfaction to the wise, nor riches to the smart, nor grace to the learned. Sooner or later bad luck hits us all.

INDIGOE TIMMS is a graduating senior of Whitney M. Young
Magnet High School and plans to attend the University of Kentucky in the fall. Upon entering college she plans to pursue a study of biology, followed by medical school. Indigoe aspires to become an Obstetrician/Gynecologist and open a group home for young mothers having children at an early age. At school, she is actively involved in the African American Culture Club and Young Doctors League. Here at Trinity, Indigoe is an active member of both the Dance and Junior Deacon ministries, and the Girl Scouts. She firmly believes in Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. And she truly values the relationship with Christ and her Trinity Church family.
MAYA STEWART is a graduating senior of Morgan Park High School, where she is a four-year honor student and a member of the National Honors Society. Maya has attended Trinity since she was a baby and was baptized in 2001. She has participated in various ministries. She currently is an active member of both the Dance and Junior Deacon ministries, and the Girl Scouts. Maya loves her church, and constantly aims to strengthen her relationship with God. Her favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

Family, A recently-concluded 5-year research study focused on the largest givers to religious institutions. The study surveyed over 4,400 Tithers, from all 50 states. Some of the findings were surprising, but very consistent with our theology and what Pastor Moss has been teaching us regarding tithing and Gods blessings. Below are some of the highlights: Tithers often make up only 5% to 20% of a congregation, but provide 50% to 80% of the churchs operating funds Only twenty-three percent of tithers give at the 10% level, while another twenty-three percent give above 18% 70% of tithers calculate their tithes based on gross income or gross income, plus other financial blessings 28% of tithers are completely debt-free, versus 13% of non-tithers; 48% have no mortgage payment, versus 34% of non-tithers; and, in fact, in 7 other financial categories measured, tithers faired better Tithers come from all income levels: 27% have household incomes under $50K
Our focus, and Pastor Moss teaching, has been on the 10-10-80 rule 10% to God, 10% to savings, and 80% to live on. This is a discipline. If that discipline were instilled in us as children, tithing would be a routine part of our lives. This is also mentioned in the research, as over 50% of tithers started before they were 30 years old and only 18% started after they had reached the age of 40. For me, there are two lessons to be learned from this: 1) we must teach our children the path, so that they will not stray; and, 2) it may be more of a challenge, but it is never too late to begin tithing. Give away your life; youll find life given back, but not merely given backgiven back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity. Luke 6:38 (The Message) Thank you for your gifts to Trinity UCC, for your sacrifices of treasure, for your generous giving of your time, and for your sharing of the talents God has granted to you. God bless you and your endeavors, Rev. Mark A. Smith Minister of Stewardship
