House Budget Chairman Visits Racine Facility, Sees Benefit of Individualized Case Management Racine, Wisc. Today, Rep. Paul Ryan visited with caseworkers and clients at Christo Rey Parish in Racine, Wisconsin, to see first-hand the impact that results-based and innovative service delivery models can have on reducing poverty in local communities and across the nation. During the visit to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee facility, Ryan met with employees and clients to discuss the benefits of a holistic approach to providing services. Families who had been helped by individualized case management services told the congressman about the role Catholic Charities has played in assisting them on their journey out of poverty and towards self-sufficiency. I was very impressed by my visit, said Ryan. Catholic Charities caseworkers are thinking outside the box and developing lots of innovative ideas. It was rewarding to see how they are fighting poverty in Wisconsin, and I look forward to working with them in the future. Leaders from Catholic Charities agencies in Milwaukee, LaCrosse, and Fort Worth, Tex., as well as Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), were present at the meeting to discuss the need for holistic and innovative reform of our nations anti-poverty programs with the congressman. It was a privilege to host Representative Ryan today, said Fr. Dave Bergner, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to show the difference that individualized case management can make in addressing the needs of those who are struggling to get their lives back on track. We were so proud to share the stories of our clients who have come so far. Individualized case management services can be just the helping hand that individuals and families in poverty are in need of, said Deacon Richard Sage, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of LaCrosse. Being able to discuss these innovative approaches with the congressman was an exciting chance to show the difference Catholic Charities agencies can make. Innovative approaches at the local level are key, said Heather Reynolds, executive director of Catholic Charities of Fort Worth. It was invigorating to hear the interest and enthusiasm that Representative Ryan shares with us in promoting results-driven ideas that lead to greater effectiveness and efficiency. Educating policymakers and the public about our innovative approach to address the issue of poverty in this country is critical, said Candy Hill, Executive Vice President, Social Policy and External Affairs at CCUSA. It was a pleasure to join Congressman Ryan on this visit and we welcome the opportunity to showcase our work and innovative approaches to others both locally and in Washington, D.C.
