-Basic Beliefs- Order of the Standing Oak
1.Who/what is the Order of the Standing Oak
We are a positive path Neo-Pagan tradition in its beginning stages.Dedicated to
protecting and preserving our Mother Earth, honoring our Ancestors, revering
the spirits of nature and worshipping the Gods and Goddesses of our Celtic
heritage
Our focus will be on personal growth thru a 3 fold development of mind,body,and
spirit
Of these we will give special attention to spiritual development through study and
practice
of Standing Oak Druidry and Celtic magick.
The beliefs of Standing Oak Druidism
1.We believe in Divinity as it is manifest in the Celtic Pantheons, and that
pantheism
,polytheism, panentheism, animism , and pan-polytheism are all valid theistic
percept-
ions of the Pantheon.
2. We Believe That Nature Is The Embodiement Of The Gods.
3. We Believe That Natural Law Reflects The Will Of The Gods.
4. We Believe That All Life Is Sacred and should be neither harmed nor taken
without deliberation or regard.
5. We Believe In The Immortality Of The Spirit.
6.We Believe That Our Purpose Is To Gain Wisdom Through Experience,and
that
we may go thru many incarnations to gain it.
7.We Believe That Learning Is An Ongoing Experience ,and is encouraged at all
ages.
8.We Believe That Morality Is A Matter Of Personal Conviction Based Upon Self
Respect And Respect For Others.
9.We Believe that ' Evil' is a matter of Intent and not of Inheritance, therefore
actions are not in themselves evil.Rather it is through the intent behind actions
that Evil manifests.
10.We Believe In The Relative Nature Of All Things, nothing is absolute, and all
things,
even the Gods, have there Dark sides.
11.We Believe That Every Individual Has The Right To Pursue Knowledge And
Wisdom
Through His Or Her Chosen Path.
12.We Believe In Honouring The Gods Through The Cyclical Celebrations Of
Our
Celtic Ancestors.
13.We Believe in A Living Tradition able to adapt to a changing environment
, therefore we recognize that our beliefs may undergo change as our Tradition
grows.
ETHICAL CONCERNS
The Order Of The Standing Oak does not discriminate on the basis of age.(those
under age require parental consent)race , color, national origin,or sexual
preference
At no time shall a member of the Order of The Standing Oak engage in the
practice of
blood sacrifice, nor shall any of our Tradition as part of his or her religious
practice
participate in the tortue, mutilation,enslavement or abuse(mental or physical)of
of any sentient creature for the purpose of spiritual gain.
Every member of our Order shall keep confidential the names, addresses,
telephone
numbers, and places of employment of other members of our Order. Except
where permission has been given to divulge this information by the party
concerned, or in
cases where a person is deemed a public threat. In these cases confidential
information may only be revealed to those authorities to whose jurisdiction the
matter of conduct falls
It is the Tradition of our Order to work robed.
Explosives and Firearms will not be allowed at Standing Oak rituals and its
functions
It is the tradition of our Order to induce altered states thru drumming, chanting,
and meditation. While psychoactive substances of various sorts have been used
by traditional societies for this purpose , only legal substances shall be used
during our rituals
We will not sanction bigotry, slander, or perjury or other forms of harassment
leveled
against our members or other members of the Neo Pagan community
Initiates are expected to abide by there initiatory oaths and respect the
confidentiality
of any oathbound material from either our tradition or another
