Hymn of Praise
Welcome Holy Spirit,
We are in Your presence,
Fill us with Your power,
Live inside of me.
Youre the living water,
Never drying fountain;
Comforter and Counselor,
Take complete control.
Welcome Holy Spirit,
We are in Your presence,
Fill us with Your power,
Live inside of me.
ACTS 2:1-21 (niV)
these who are speaking Galileans? 8Then how
is it that each of us hears them in our native
language?
Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of
Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus
and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and
the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from
Rome 11(both Jews and converts to Judaism);
Cretans and Arabswe hear them declaring
the wonders of God in our own tongues!
12
Amazed and perplexed, they asked one
another, What does this mean? 13Some,
however, made fun of them and said, They
have had too much wine. 14Then Peter stood
up with the Eleven, raised his voice and
addressed the crowd: Fellow Jews and all of
you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this
to you; listen carefully to what I say.15These
people are not drunk, as you suppose. Its
only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what
was spoken by the prophet Joel:
9
In the last days, God says, I will pour
out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and
daughters will prophesy, your young men will
see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and
they will prophesy. 19I will show wonders in
the heavens above and signs on the earth
below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20
The sun will be turned to darkness and the
moon to blood before the coming of the great
and glorious day of the Lord. 21And everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved.
17
When the day of Pentecost came, they were
all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like
the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven
and filled the whole house where they were
sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues
of fire that separated and came to rest on each
of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy
Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the
Spirit enabled them. 5Now there were staying in
Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation
under heaven. 6When they heard this sound, a
crowd came together in bewilderment, because
each one heard their own language being
spoken. 7Utterly amazed, they asked: Arent all

Memorial Day Litany
Minister: We pray that we may learn to love one another.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We remember those who have loved us enough to lay down their lives for us and pray
that they may rest in peace.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray that You would comfort all those who mourn the loss in war of a loved one.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray that we may never take the freedoms we have for granted and will share
them with others.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray that You will remove greed, envy, and lust for power and control from our
hearts and the hearts of all people.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray that You will root out racism, sexism, and violence from our lives, our
communities, our nation, and our world.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray that we may learn to share the worlds resources with all and not hoard them
for ourselves.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray that we may learn to wage peace so that no more people will die in war.
All: God, hear our prayer.
Minister: We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, trusting in the promise that
whatever we ask in Christs name, You will give. Amen.

The first Sunday of June and the entire month is designated for survivors of all cancers; the color is
lavender. A cancer survivor is a person with cancer of any type who is still living, and includes caregivers,
family members, and friends.
In 2014, the number of living adults and children in the U.S. with a history of cancer is 14,483,830. By the
end of 2024, the number should reach 18,914,670 (includes 9.3 million males and 9.6 females).
The risk of developing any cancer can be reduced by regular visits to your doctor for screening, being
physically active, healthy eating, and changes in lifestyles. The earlier a cancer is found and treated, the
better chances are for living a long and healthy life.

Churchwide Theme for 2015
Renew, Reclaim, Restore, Reconnect
Renew Our Relationship with God
Restore Justice and Mercy
January (Worship)
Zechariah 1:3 (NIV)
July (Prophetic Mission of the Church)
Zechariah 7:9 (NIV)
Therefore tell the people: This is what The Lord
Almighty says: Return to me, declares the Lord
Almighty, and I will return to you, says the Lord.
This is what The Lord Almighty said: Administer
true justice; show mercy and compassion to one
another.
February (Prayer)
Deuteronomy 4:29 (NIV)
August (Black Liberation Theology)
Leviticus 19:34 (NIV)
But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you
will find him with all your heart and all your soul.
The foreigner residing among you must be treated
as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you
were foreigners in Egypt. I am The Lord your God.
March (Bible Study)
Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path. I
have taken an oath and confirmed it that I will follow
your righteous laws.
Reclaim Our African Heritage
April (African Origins of Christianity)
Psalm 68:31 (NLT)
Let Egypt come with gifts of precious metals; let
Ethiopia bring tribute to God. Sing to the God you
kings of the earth. Sing praises to the Lord.
May (Black Religion)
Isaiah 19:19-21 (NLT)
In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the
heart of Egypt, and a monument to the Lord at its
borders. It will be a sign and a witness that the
Lord of Heavens Armies is worshipped in the land
of Egypt. When the people cry to the Lord for help
against those who oppress them, he will send them
a savior who will rescue them.
June (African Diaspora)
Zephaniah 3:10 (NIV)
My scattered people who lived beyond the rivers of
Ethiopia will come to present their offerings. On that
day you will no longer need to be ashamed for you
will no longer be rebellious against me.
September (Social Justice/Activism)
Psalm 82:3 (NIV)
Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the
cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Reconnect to Our Community
October (Evangelism)
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you shall be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the
ends of the earth.
November (Hospitality)
Hebrews 13:2-3 (NIV)
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers for
by so doing some people have shown hospitality to
angels without knowing it.
December (Servanthood)
II Corinthians 3:2-3 (NIV)
You yourselves are our letter, written on hearts,
known and read by everyone. You show that you
are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry,
written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living
God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human
hearts.
