Jeweled X

by knittimo

Size: 4(10 cm) wide, 51(130 cm) long (circumference)

Materials:
One skein of Malabrigo Yarn Lace (470 yards / 50 g)
Size 6 round seed beads - 57 pcs.
US 3 (3.25 mm) needle or size to obtain the gauge
US 14 (0.75 mm) crochet hook
Waste yarn (for provisional CO), Tapestry needle (for grafting)
Blocked gauge: 28 sts / 34 rows = 4(10 cm)
Note:
Yarn is held double throughout.
Unblocked piece rolls a lot; please give the finished cowl a
good soak in water before blocking.
Instructions:
Using waste yarn, provisionally cast on 33 stitches.
Work in stockinette stitch with selvage as follows:
Right side: slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, knit to last 1, knit the last 1 through back loop
Wrong side: slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, purl to last 1, knit the last 1 through back loop
When piece measures 6 (15cm), work Jeweled X Chart once.
(Wrong side is not shown in the chart; keep working in stockinette stitch with selvage as above.)
Then work the rest in stockinette stitch with selvage until just enough yarn is left for grafting,
ending with a completed wrong side row.
(For kitchener stitch, you will need a tail about 4 times longer than the width of piece.)
Put cast-on stitches on needle.
Weave in ends.

Using tapestry needle and kitchener stitch, graft stitches together.

Soak in water for a while and block lightly.

Enjoy!
