NLP Practitioner Certificate: 'Counting Your Days' Worksheet

The document provides a 'Counting Your Days' worksheet exercise. It begins with a Chinese proverb about realizing the shortness of life to grow in wisdom. It then discusses how reframing in NLP can replace limiting thought patterns with more positive perspectives. Specifically, counting one's remaining days can shift perspective from current circumstances to one's life as a whole, often resulting in insight. It includes a calculation to determine the number of days one has left assuming living to age 80. Space is provided for notes on any shifts in perspective after completing the exercise.

'COUNTING YOUR DAYS' WORKSHEET

“Teacher, teach us to realise the shortness of life so that we may grow in

appreciation of life, and of wisdom.” - Ancient Chinese Proverb

In NLP, reframing is a linguistic tool that we can use to consciously change our
limiting frames and therefore help us achieve our desired outcomes, goals, and
behaviours. Reframing does this by replacing our old, unhelpful thought patterns
with new perspectives and interpretations of reality that are more supportive of
our desired outcomes.

In other words, reframing helps us to consider life events or circumstances in a

different context. In the video lecture, we looked at this idea of 'counting our
days' and when we take the time to do this, we shift our perspective off of our
current life circumstances and onto a much larger frame: our life as a whole.
Completing this exercise can often result in a huge change in perspective for
many people. Carry out the exercise below and then make note of any insights
or shifts in your perspective:

Qu) If you live to age 80, how many days do you have left to live?

(80 minus your current age multiplied by 365)

80 - Your Age x 365 = How many days you have left to live.

80 - __________ x 365 =
