Reflection Paper

National Service Training Program or NSTP is one of the courses that a student
must take during first year college. There are three branches of NSTP but I chose
CWTS or Civic Welfare Training Service. At first, I thought that it is only a requirement
for me to pass the semester but after the discussions I realized that it is more
meaningful. The goal of CWTS is to promote and integrate values education,
transformational leadership and sustainable social mobilization for youth development,
community building, national renewal and global solidarity. This is our main goal in
conducting the program in Batangas City South Elementary School.

Our program named Revitalize, Recover, and Restore: 3R’s for Serving a Needy
Community, the program was conducted weekly in nine weeks time span. That nine
week is very tiring but fulfilling. I learned a lot of things in a short amount of time, things
that I can use in my daily life. When I first saw the things like teaching the students of
the school that we will do, I felt uneasy because I am not good in speaking and
interacting with others. My skills was enhanced because of the very active students and
I felt happy because I can share my knowledge to them.

At the second phase of the program, we cleaned and painted the surroundings of
the school. The beauty of the surroundings was restored and I think that we need to
care more in environment because it is our home and it is our duty. There was many
tasks that was given to us and my task is to document the things that we are doing by
taking pictures. That task is not so very hard but I realized different things while doing
documentation.

At the end, I realized that NSTP is a wonderful and great experience. I will
treasure the things that I learned and I will apply it for me to become better. In the whole
process of helping the community I realized the one of the most important thing that
everyone need to possess which is unity. We need to be united for better outcome, we
need to be united in order to overcome problems and we need to be united to achieve
our goals for better future.
