HERCULES

Hercules was a demigod son of Zeus known for his great strength and for undertaking 12 difficult labors to atone for a crime committed in a fit of madness. Some of his notable labors included slaying the Nemean lion, defeating the Lernaean hydra, capturing the Ceryneian hind, and stealing the girdle of Hippolyta. He undertook these labors at the behest of King Eurystheus to purge himself of guilt and attain immortality after a bout of madness induced by Hera caused him to kill his wife and children.
