Music Lesson Plan

Title: Lollipop Grade Level: 2​nd


Source: Dr. McConkey

Materials needed: ​Colored squares, Lollipop song.

Procedure: ​Anticipatory set, instructional input, modeling, check for understanding,


practice, closure.

A.S: “Let’s talk about patterns, where would you find some patterns in the world? Yes,
colors, checker patterns, number patterns and people patterns are all patterns we can
see. Another pattern we see in the world is dancing.”

1. Colored squares are presented to students, and students will be tasked


with assigning a movement to each of the four colors.
2. Play the lollipop song once for students to hear. “What is this song about?”
3. Make four groups of students, and they will come up with a dance, making
a pattern with the colored squares.
4. Give time for the groups to create and practice their dance.
5. Once groups are ready, each group will present their dance on at a time.

Closure: Have students sit back in a big circle and discuss the themes discussed today.
“What kinds of patterns did we see today?” (Color, dance) “We can see patterns
everywhere we go, so look out for them!”
