Report On Study of Biological Performance & Activity

The report summarizes the results of a study measuring bacterial counts at different points in an aeration tank. At the inlet, counts were highest for shelled amoeba and free swimming ciliates. In the middle, these organisms remained most abundant along with crawling ciliates and rotifers. At the outlet, shelled amoeba and free swimming ciliates again had the highest counts. Observations noted that shelled amoeba were most abundant throughout, and filamentous bacteria were seen only in the inlet sample.
