1. Product Overview
PIC programmer mainly used for programming the PICmicro® microcontroller of
MICROCHIP company under Microsoft Windows XP system. This programmer adopts high-
speed USB port communicate with computer, combined with computer programming
software WinPic-3.55g to finish most of PICmicro® microcontroller （DIP-40）programming
work.

2. Working
Conditions
This
programmer
adopts USB communication. Normal working only needs one computer with USB2.0 port and
programming software. Programmer adopts locking type ZIF chip base and ICSP line with
six chip double RJ11 heads for programming chip, programming operation is much easy, no
need to power off during using, just disconnect USB connection cable when finish work.

3. Safety Precautions
The programmer adopts computer USB port power supply, no need other external power
supply, and it supports hot plug. It should be choosing the right chip base when chip
programming, and insure that the location and direction is right, so avoid damage of chip.
See following picture, the direction of the chip gap should be same as the handle of the
locking base. It also should be avoid the man-made short trouble during using programming.
Programmer equipped with 0.5A self-recovery insurance, circuit will be turn to normal after
get rid of the short trouble.

Installation and
Debugging
Installation work is easy, using extension cord which USB-A change to USB-B,
connecting PC or laptop with programmer. It should be install USB device driver when first
using the the programmer, see picture 5.2

User finds the diver in the file of WinPic800_3.55G\Drivers WinXP according to the
presentation, finish installation according to the guides

Then running the programming software WinPic-3.55g in the computer, open settings
menu, click hardware, choosing GTP-USB-#0, go back after confirmation. See picture 5.3

Then choosing “Hardware Test” under Device menu, device will pass detection if USB
communication cable connection is right， see following picture 5.4.

programming work is finish, see picture 6.1. “WinPic-3.55g” cannot detect the programmer
when the device connection is wrong, the programming will also lost, see picture 6.2

solidify the working routine internally, if programmer cannot be distinguished by computer,
user can use another programmer to programming the chip main program once again,
beside this, user should check circuit connection and circuit board welding quality.

9. Main function operation methods:

9.1 Programmer using process, install USB drive when first time using. See the 5 items
“installation and debugging”
9.2 Running programming software” WinPic800-3.55g”, selecting “GTP-USB-#0”through
“settings-hardware”, click “Apply edits” to exit and back to main interface, see picture 9.1
9.3 Click “Device-Hardware Test” to do programmer self-checking work, see picture 9.2.
9.4 selecting the model of PIC SCM which plan to programming, for example, 16F628A,
and put the chip on the base of programmer correctly.
9.5 click button ”Setting” on main interface and choose the suitable configuration
position, for example, crystal oscillator、 power、 watchdog、 reset pin，etc. If user already
set these configuration position in program, it will be auto-update according to the code
setting when load the source file
9.6 click programming buttonon the interface, or through menu “Device-Program
All” to start programming, if programming successfully show as in the 9.5. If need checking
the writing code, clicking. Read data of I2C chip, click.
