SESSION TITLE LAC as a Mechanism for Instructional Innovation

 WHAT IS LAC?

OBJECTIVES Terminal Objective:
This session will lead the participants to initiate and to effectively facilitate LACs in their respective schools
and districts.

Enabling Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to
a. Understand and appreciate LAC as a professional learning tool to improve teacher quality and impact
student performance;
b. Identify different topics to be discussed in LACs;
c. Appreciate the role of a school head in promoting an effective LAC

KEY UNDERSTANDINGS LACs aim, to supplement professional development within the schools, districts, and divisions through a
bottom-up approach that will supplement top-down approaches (cascade training, short courses, etc.).

Provide 2 sets of Green and Yellow 10 minutes
metacards to the metacards, markers, and

the GREEN metacard, and
what they WANT to KNOW
on the YELLOW metacard
Ask them to write what
they KNOW about LAC on
the GREEN metacard, and
what they WANT TO
KNOW on the YELLOW
metacard respectively,
then ask them to post
their responses on the
board

ANALYSIS 10 minutes

Ask a volunteer to
summarize the responses
and determine
commonalities if any.

ABSTRACTION

SAY: Audio-video presentation 10 minutes


Let us watch this audio-
video to check whether
your concept of a LAC is
correct.

DO:
Show an audio-video
presentation about LAC
and ask them to write
down key words/concepts
then ask them to compare
with what they have
written in the metacards.
After the video
ASK:
What did you learn from
the video? (Ask volunteers
to answer.)

SAY:
Now, let us go over some
of the significant features
of LAC as stipulated in DO Slide deck ( powerpoint
# 35, s.2016. presentation)

DO:
Through a lecturette,
elaborate what was
presented in the audio- 16 minutes
video presenatation based
on DepEd Order No.
35,s.2016 using slides.

APPLICATION:

After the lecturette, let the


participants look at what Reflection 1 minute
they have written in the Journal/Notebook, pen
YELLOW metacards during
the activity.

Ask volunteers to share


their significant
realization/learning about
LAC.
On their reflection
journal/notebook, ask
them to reflect as school
heads on the following
questions:
 What have I done?
 What am I doing?
 What will I do
next?
