Origins of Telaga Warna

In West Java, there is a lake which is named Telaga Warna. When the weather is sunny, this
lake will reflect beautiful colors. That said, Telaga Warna came from the tears of the ancient queen.
Ratu Purbamanah and Raja Suwartaiaya are the leaders of the Kutatanggeuhan Kingdom in
West Java. They rule wisely and are loved by the people.
They have a beautiful daughter, namely Gilang Rukmini. Her parents really spoiled Gilang
Rukmini, because she was her only child. This made Gilang Rukmini unfavorable. He will get angry
and act harshly if his wants are not fulfilled. Even so, parents and people still respect and love him.
When Gilang Rukmini was 17 years old, the King threw a party for him. He invited all the
people to come. The people also discussed the gifts to be given to the Princess. They raised money and
called a famous jeweler. Then, be a necklace studded with colorful gems that are very beautiful.
The party started, when the King and Queen appeared to greet their people, they were
immediately greeted with joy by the people. Likewise when Gilang Rukmini appeared.
The people also gave the gifts they prepared. King Suwartalaya opened the gift and found a very
beautiful necklace.
"My dear daughter, wear this necklace, a gift as a sign of the people's love for you," said the king to his
daughter.
"This necklace is very beautiful, son. Use it, otherwise the people will be disappointed, ”said Ratu
Purbamanah.
Gilang Rukmini looked at the gift of the necklace with an annoyed face, “What's so beautiful
about this necklace, Mother? The shape is very plump and unattractive. I'm embarrassed to wear it! "
Then, he threw the necklace on the floor, so that the pearls scattered.
Everyone was stunned by Gilang Rukmini's attitude. Suddenly there was the voice of the

necklace of Gilang Rukmini which is still at the bottom of the lake.

Telaga Warna
Di Jawa Barat, ada sebuah telaga yang diberi nama Telaga Warna. Pada saat cuaca sedang
cerah, telaga ini akan memantulkan warna- warni yang indah. Konon, Telaga Warna berasal dari air
mata Ratu Purbamanah.
Ratu Purbamanah dan Raja Suwartaiaya adalah pemimpin Kerajaan Kutatanggeuhan di Jawa
Barat. Mereka memerintah dengan arif dan sangat dicintai rakyatnya.
Mereka mempunyai seorang putri yang cantik, yaitu Gilang Rukmini. Orangtuanya sangat
memanjakan Gilang Rukmini, karena ia adalah anak satu- satunya. Hal ini membuat Gilang Rukmini
bersifat kurang baik. la akan marah dan bertindak kasar jika keinginannya tidak dipenuhi. Walau begitu,
orangtua dan rakyat tetap menghargai dan menyayanginya.
Ketika Gilang Rukmini berusia 17 tahun, Raja mengadakan pesta untuknya. la mengundang
seluruh rakyat untuk datang. Rakyat pun memusyawarahkan hadiah yang akan diberikan kepada sang
Putri. Mereka mengumpulkan uang dan memanggil seorang pengrajin perhiasan yang terkenal. Lalu,
jadilah sebuah kalung bertahta permata warna-warni yang sangat indah.
Pesta di mulai, ketika Raja dan Ratu muncul untuk menyapa rakyatnya, mereka segera disambut
dengan gembira oleh rakyat. Begitupun ketika Gilang Rukmini muncul.
Rakyat pun memberikan hadiah yang mereka siapkan. Raja Suwartalaya membuka hadiah tersebut dan
menemukan sebuah kalung yang sangat indah.
“Putriku sayang, pakailah kalung ini, hadiah tanda cinta rakyat kepadamu,” kata Raja kepada putrinya.
“Kalung ini sangat cantik, Nak. Pakailah, kalau tidak rakyat akan kecewa,” ujar Ratu Purbamanah.
Gilang Rukmini menatap hadiah kalung itu dengan wajah sebal, “Apa yang indah dari kalung
ini, Ibunda? Bentuknya sangat kampungan dan tidak menarik. Aku malu memakainya!” Lalu, ia
menghempaskan kalung tersebut ke lantai, sehingga butir butir permatanya tercecer.
Semua tercengang melihat sikap Gilang Rukmini. Tiba-tiba terdengar suara tangis Ratu
Purbamanah. la sangat sedih dengan sikap anaknya yang angkuh itu. Tangisnya sangat memilukan hati.
Air mata sang Ratu terus mengalir. Karena derasnya air mata itu, terbentuklah genangan. Tiba tiba juga,
munculah mata air di halaman istana, makin lama genangan semakin tinggi dan akhinya
menenggelamkan seluruh Kerajaan Kutatanggeuhan menjadi sebuah telaga yang sangat indah.
Pada suatu hari, telaga itu memantulkan warna-warni yang indah yang konon berasal dari
ceceran kalung Gilang Rukmini yang masih berada di dasar telaga
