Installation Manual
SM224.FTY.181
NOTE: Please read this manual carefully before antenna installation.
Antenna installation requires qualified, professional personnel to operate,
strictly based on the requirements of the installation manual. During antenna
working course, in order to ensure optimum status of antenna, professional
personnel should perform inspection and maintenance periodically (once half
year).

1.1 Condition of Antenna Installation
The diameter of mounting pipe is Ф114mm, and effective length is more
than 1600mm, which should be prepared by user, and vertically fixed on the
position, where antenna will be mounted. There must be appropriate
sustaining point for fixation of adjusting rod at the same height of the
mounting pipe (Please see Section 3.3 for detailed statement).

2.2.3 The arrow on the feeder shows the direction of the polarization
manner of output. The arrow is vertical (up or down) which is vertical
polarization. The arrow is horizontal (left or right) which is horizontal
polarization. It’s up to customer’s circuit design.

2.3 Assembly of Reflector and Shield
2.3.1 There are two methods to assemble the reflector and shield: one is to
connect the four pieces of shield together in order AA-BB-CC-DD first, align
3 and reflector○
at the red “TOP” marks and red arrows on the shield○ 1 , and
then assemble it on the reflector with M6×30○
2 ; the other method is to
assemble them together after the four pieces of shield connect with the
reflector respectively (pay attention the red “TOP” marks and red arrows).
User can choose either one based on the field circumstance.

AB with the “TOP” on the reflector, and then align at the red arrows on the
DA and BC with the red arrows on the reflector. Make sure every letter mark
is the same on the shield connection place. (Clockwise is AA-BB-CC-DD)
2.3.3 Insert all the standard accessories○
1 into the joint holes orderly, and
then lock them tightly and evenly after complete installation, see figure 7.

2.4 Radome Installation
2.4.1 Before radome installation, please install the edge protector○
3 as
shown in the drawing to prevent the antenna radome from damage.
2.4.2 Spread the radome○
2 out on the surface of the antenna. Unfold the
radome gradually and evenly, and fix it to the antenna with standard
accessories○
1 (spring washer, flat washer, nut and j-bolt). Tighten the nuts
with a wrench, and ensure the equal force of j-bolts. The length of springs
after pressing should be 120-125mm.
2.4.3 The position of the edge protector should not be changed during the
installation course.

3.1 Installation of Anti-fall Angle Iron
The diameter of mounting pipe○
2 for antenna installation should be Ф114mm.
Before commencing antenna installation, please fix the anti-fall angle iron○

3.2 Antenna Hoisting
3.2.1 As introduced in figure 12, hoist the antenna with a hoisting clasp in
an equal speed. The two sides of antenna can be tracked by ropes in order
to prevent damage caused to antenna and radome.
NOTE: The two arrows in figure 12 show the traction rope
positions. The antenna and radome can not be broken during the
hoisting course.

3.3 Installation of Adjustable Rod and Stabilizing Arm
3.3.1 Assembly of Stabilizing Arm
Two kinds of stabilizing arm are available, the long one○
3 and the short
one○
2 , which are going to be used in enhancing wind-load ability of antenna.
The short rod is unnecessarily used, providing the long one can meet the
sustaining requirements on the spot. Otherwise, please join the two rods
together as following steps:
3.3.1.1 Remove the connecting board○
1 from the long rod by loosening its
bolt. Fix the connecting board to the short rod.
3.3.1.2 Loosen the 4 bolts○
4 of the short rod. Insert the short rod into the
long one, align the hole positions, and tighten the 4 bolts. The assembly of
stabilizing arm is shown in figure 14.

3.3.2 Installation of Adjustable Rod and Stabilizing Arm
Please install the adjustable rod○
5 and the stabilizing arm○
8 in time after
antenna hoisting in order to enhance the wind-proof ability.
NOTE: In case of the problems regarding the length of the rods,
please consider the following solutions depending on the site
condition:
a. Exchange the positions of adjustable rod and stabilizing
arm.
b. The adjustable rod and the stabilizing arm should be
respectively installed at the opposite side of the antenna and
as close as possible to the antenna rim. However on special
conditions, both rods can be installed at the same side.
3.3.2.1 Prior to installation, confirm that the connecting board○
3 can be
easily turned. Do not fasten the 4 U-bolts○
6 on the connecting board until
the positions of both rods are determined.
3.3.2.2 The adjustable rod can be lowered or raised 5° from horizon. The
stabilizing arm can be lowered or raised 25°. In the horizontal plane, both
rods can be positioned at an angle up to 25°.
7 using
3.3.2.3 Attach one end of the adjustable rod to the supporting rod ○
the two U-bolts, and the other end to the proper position on the tower ○
10
using the bolt○
9 .
3.3.2.4 If a suitable installation hole is unavailable, user can fix the clamp○
11
to a sustainable frame, e.g. an angle iron of a tower. Then fix one end of the
adjustable rod to the clamp.
3.3.2.5 The clamp for fixation of adjustable rod is optional supplied,
and should be bought additionally if necessary.

3.3.2.6 The installation of clamp is introduced here. Figure 16 shows the
horizontal and vertical installation methods for the circle pipe material,
whose diameter should be Ф40mm-Ф120mm. Figure 17 shows the two
methods for angle iron material, whose specification should be 40 ×
40mm-120×120mm. Customer can choose a method according to the
installation site.
3.3.2.7 Follow the above steps to install the stabilizing arm.
3.3.2.8 At last, fasten all the stand accessory.

4. Antenna Adjustment
4.1 Azimuth Adjustment
4.1.1 Large-scale azimuth adjustment: The antenna can be turned
360°around the mounting pipe. Loosen carefully the nuts on long U-bolts○

of the hanging bracket and the bolts○
2 on the adjustable rod○

on the adjustable rod. Then move adjustment nuts on fine adjustment slowly
forward and backwards to perform the antenna fine adjustment, see Figure

In figure 19, loosen the two connecting angle irons○
1 on hanging brackets,
then carefully turn the three nuts○

5. Final Inspection
In order to ensure every tightening part is in the right condition, please
check all of them after the whole installation procedure, and anti-corrosion
treatment is suggested (such as daubing grease on parts).
