The Apollo Moon Landing

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the moon. They landed on the moon's surface in the lunar module Eagle after taking off from Earth. The Apollo 11 mission marked a major achievement for the United States in achieving the goal that President John F. Kennedy had declared in 1962 of landing astronauts on the moon by the end of the decade, which required significant government funding for NASA.
